Dearest Fiends: Greetings from the mission field!
I am writing today for your earth brother that sits in spiritual darkness. He cannot ask for you to find him because he does not even know he is lost. He cannot ask for light for he was born in darkness light to him is unknown. Paganism is all he has ever known.
YET you and I know millions of our earth brothers that are in that situation…and there they will dwell until we can get to them. Reaching them is the responsibility of every one of us. No one is excused from reaching into the regions beyond.
I think about,… Go and make disciples of all nations (
Matthew 28:19) and “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (
Acts 1:8).
Pastor Joao Batista has been in our ministry for 11 years. He is a great soul winner and walks long distances like most of our people and pastors do. There are some very dangerous villages here and most of these villages have little bus service and I have been praying for the Lord to prepare an old car for him to reach into these areas.
Today someone came to my door and offered me what I feel is just the car for the need however as you know cars are real expensive here. It is an old chevy 1984. The price is 2,050.00 dollars. To you that may sound like a lot but remember cars are very ,very expensive in Brazil. Since we moved to the northeast I have not had a personal car like many American ladies because they are so expensive however I am not asking help for myself but for one of God’s precious minister’s that lives in deep poverty but has a great desire to help us reach people are almost out of reach.
You may say I don’t have that much, Sister Alvear but if some would give 500, some a 100 others 50 we could soon purchase this car and you could be a part in the souls it will be bringing to church. The challenge is great. God is greater. The rewards are a hundred times better than anything the world can offer. The battle cry of Christ is: Go! Double your joy in God by sharing and helping a national pastor have a car to go into the regions beyond.
A mission is never for people who are looking for the easy way. The comfortable way will not be found on the mission field. This life requires many unmentioned sacrifices and long hours of work.
A mission call is often uncomfortable, inconvenient, misunderstood and many times emotionally difficult. So why would anyone do it? Why would I write month after month begging for others knowing sometimes people laugh and make jokes about my letters and pleas for help?
The simple answer is, because Christ told me to. He called me to help others. I have never lost the wonder He called me to the harvest fields of this world. I will be true to the call and many of you have been true to helping us for many years. We are so grateful for your help.
I just said a prayer for God to speak to supporters and opened my Bible and this verse was before me.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." (
Psalm 46:10)
Yesterday we had an awesome service and more new folks were baptized. We are so thankful for the great move of God we are in. The little lady that was crippled that was healed a few weeks back was so awesome yesterday watching her walk. We truely are having a book of Acts revival.
In March we will be dedicating two new churches in our city. Many things are happening and thanks once again for being a part of this great work.
Thank you for helping be a part of exalting our Great God.
