I've heard some say ... if they are supposed to be saved ... God will give them a chance to take this step.

LOL! You're on the right track! In a way they are. In deed, we all are at times. At least when it suits us.

Like I said I guess that would make 3 steppers Calvinists!

Those who would say this, basically that Cornelius got the HG on credit? So once having recieved it, his free will was destroyed and he could not change his mind about later being baptised?

Dan, what happens when a Spirit filled Christian sins? Does God still remain in residence? Or must God leave until repentance has taken place?
This body of sin doctrine being removed only through baptism has no witnesses. What's it a tumor?

Second ... our justification through the shed blood of Jesus Christ... puts us in good standing w/ God ....from the moment we place our faith in Him.... which produces works to meet repentance.

We will sin ... after our New Birth but if we confess our sins ... as it was in the beginning ... He cleanses us.

if we may confess our sins, steadfast He is and righteous that He may forgive us the sins, and may cleanse us from every unrighteousness; ...

For my part, I believe that we are saved by grace through faith. We don't need to have re-enacted Calvary just the way Jesus did it to be saved.
I believe we are saved by grace through faith as well. Being baptized in the name of Jesus and asking to receive the gift of the Spirit happen by faith and what ever work is done is performed by the Spirit . Acts 2:28, 1 Cor 12:13, Galatians 3:2

More examples of foolish and unlearned questions:

What if Joe repented and was not baptized with the Holy Spirit and died?
What if Joe was going to go to church that very day and died in a car accident on the way?
What if Joe was walking down the aisle to the altar and a hurricane ripped the roof off and Joe died?
What if Joe repented and was baptized in water and in the Spirit and then returned to his old sinful life without ever looking back?

But by applying your logic to your argument you would need to get rebaptised in water every time you sin or you will go to hell.
