Yes, I know some sweet folks out there that love the Lord so much.

Re: ROCK BANDS!!! A growing Trend in the UPC???
Thad,
This year at camp meeting I noticed much of that junk. As I was exiting the tent, there was a group of 5 people, 4 males and 1 female. All the males had little mohawks with those big sunglasses that practically cover the entire face. The men's pants were torn and tight as those street walkers in Hollywood wear. The female's skirt was also semi-torn throughout. This group was some type of pentecostal band, at least that's what people were saying. I saw some young and older folks just look in awe as they walked pass this group.
I think it's pretty ridiculous. I guess that's all they'll ever do for the kingdom of God, hype people up and look like punks.
Who are you talking about?!?!?!?!?????????
If you are referring to the UPC Western District Camp Meeting in Santa Maria, California, you need to get your story straight. Sinners are always welcome at Camp Meetings and there was NEVER anyone on the platform that looked like your description. You did say you saw them when you exited the tent. In other words, they weren't even in the service. Why didn't you try to win them to God instead of looking down your self-righteous Phariseeical nose?!?!?!?!? They may have been a "Pentecostal" band from an Assembly of God Church and was looking for more of God. Shame on you for your condemning, lying spirit.

Get your facts straight! I never said that group was on the platform. They were outside near the tent exit. Also, they were in the service, never did I say they weren't!
And now you ask why I didn't win them to God? How do your know they weren't saved? Perhaps by the description I gave you? I see you have one of them Pharisaical noses too! You also accused them of being Assembly of God? You condemn me for judging and you're doing it yourself!
You must also have one of these Pharisaical noses you accuse me of having!
Oh....I'm a liar? HAHA.....Posters that were walking with me can attest to what I said, if they want. They saw them too!
So please...........stop accusing me of having a lying spirit before I get my can of raid out.
p.s. it's spelled pharisaical, not phariseeical.

If anyone wonders what that sound is, it is me, banging my head up against the wall...
I suppose your fancy Italian shoes are much more holy than a faux-hawk.
You'll have to refresh my memory on the scripture and verse about clothes having rips in them... Oh, and the ones on large sunglasses.
As to what they may or may not be doing in the kingdom of God, maybe some kids like this spent last Saturday in a park in an impoverished neighborhood, doing outreach and ministering to kids in that community.
Maybe they were doing that while other kids in their district were at an amusement park having fun.
Maybe they were at their church two services on Sunday, arriving 1/2 an hour early for prayer and lingering in the altar after church.
Maybe they are in submission to their pastor and love and serve God with all their hearts. Just maybe.
I don't know, I have no idea who these kids are that you are talking about, but I know some who might look as you describe, and I couldn't be more proud of them.
I'm sure you are praying for them, being as you are so spiritual and kingdom minded.

Maybe? Maybe? Maybe? Maybe? Maybe? That's all I read from you dizzy!
Yes, my shoes are much more appropriate for a church meeting, in comparison to a mohawk.
Yes, the bible reads modest apparel. Would you allow your daughter/son to wear torn clothing that exposes their backside? It's common sense!
Before you condemn me, you might want to ask your father what he thought.
Blessings.

Since this apparently slid right by you, the "maybe" was to emphasize that, you don't know anymore than I do about what those kids spirituality level is.
As far as your shoes being more appropriate than a faux-hawk, well, I'll just say that I have seen scripture on costly array, and I haven't seen any on that particular hairstyle. As to their "backsides" showing, that is the first reference you have made about that, so I'm not sure what you are talking about.
Just so we are all clear here, I speak for myself and myself alone. I am almost 40 years old, and it has been a while since my father felt the need to censor anything I say or said.
As far as what he thought, since he didn't come rushing home from Camp Meeting talking about it and hasn't mentioned it in the 3 or 4 weeks since then while we have been working in the same building most every day, I'm going to have to assume that it wasn't a terribly huge deal to him.
But like I said, I'm not sure what he thinks about has to do with it? if you felt like you were somehow "outing" me by that question, sorry, I did that myself a while back.

You shall know them by their fruits. When you have so-called Pentecostals wearing torn cloths that exposes their inner thigh, and their butt, that isn't modesty the bible speaks about. Also, yes, when you look at people's attire, you notice the visible.

Define what we should consider costly array.
