Re: Question about Acts 2:38: What about the marty

In light of Acts 22:16... if a believer knew of no local preacher or fellowship that would baptize in the name of Jesus... could they go out into a lake, call upon the name of Jesus, and baptize themselves for the remission of sin?

I'm not against the church and elders being involved on most normal occasions. I'm asking as to if you believe it is required and the faith of one seeking the Lord in such isolation would be in vain.

I remember reading about some Oneness Pentecostal Pioneers who baptized themselves in Canada.

Honestly, it all sounds like an effort to establish a Catholic like priesthood wherein a mediator other than Christ is established. Clergy has always sought job security. So, naturally, I'm suspicious.

Nope. You're sighting the works of those you deem as being damned to define your point. I find that conflicting.

I have no word for it, so we cannot say. I need word for anything foundational.

Don't you have the same Spirit in you that resided in the Apostles??? Can't the Spirit guide you into all truth??? There comes a time when we must realize that while the Scriptures are foundational, but the Spirit must speak to us presently. What saith the Spirit???

The Holy Spirit residing in me calls out that they are welcome, whosoever shall stand in the water, calling upon the name of the Lord.

Sources of a sole individual swimming in a lake screaming I baptize myself in Jesus name

Yes, you are, you started this discussion saying that no one said anything over someone who was baptized. Anything else would be fruitless, why even have an elder present if all they had to do is believe in Jesus while they were doing the backstroke in the swimming pool?

No one says that. The neophyte is the one repenting and the baptizer is the elder who performed the baptism. Ethiopian eunuch stops the chariot, and asked the question on what will stop the baptism to the minister. If no minister was required then Ethiopian would of jumped into the water leaving Phillip in the chariot.

I deem people who read and understand Greek as what? They are reading the Greek and explaining the meaning. Even if they stick their false doctrine around it you can still find the truth of what the Greek is actually saying. Aquila, want to try this again?
