Re: Almost saved- so near and yet so far
We are to make judgements, but in our judgements we are not to be harder on others people than we want others to be on us.

I am confident that the family involved managed to continue on with their evening without seeking your approval. However, considering Isaiah 50, with emphases on verse 6, you have made a very serious public judgment against the man you claim [assumed] to be your Savior and God.
Question: Are you seriously declaring that Jesus Christ is 'worthy of hell' because he does not measure up to your standards of holiness? Would you please explain what your true stand on holiness is, and a few examples of the measure by which you judge other people before God [ John 7:24]?
From your own statements, I am already aware of your judgment of me.[ 1 Corinthians 4:1-6]
Even so,

Our judgments are to be fair and just. We should "hear both sides of the matter" before passing judgment. Not just hear one side from a neighbor or friend.... or even see one side with our own eyes. Therefore, if someone is seen in a bar, we should find out if he was drinking or witnessing before labeling him a drunkard. If he has tattoos up his arm we should find out why and when the tattoos were placed there before labeling him a sinner. If she has short cropped hair we should find out if she's a new convert or just overcoming some terrible illness before telling her to stop cutting her hair.
Appearances can be very deceiving, after all.

This is typical response whenever truth is unveiled, "Oh, I don't want to judge, let's just leave that up to God." Well, we have a BIG problem here. Do you really want to just wait until you're standing before God to find out whether or not you made it? Wouldn't you rather have someone telling you the truth, truth that may hurt but truth that will save your soul?
This thread was opened beautifully! Is it really worht an earring, a beard, a glittery watch? Do you really need to show your elbows that bad? Why does everyone want to see how close to the edge they can get?

Where do you get that from? Sounds awful sweet but brother, if I'm heading toward an eternal flame I'd want somebody to tell me no matter how bad it hurts! Why are we so afraid to tell people where they're going? With the rapture right around the corner, why waste time trying to make people happy, trying to be nice? We can be nice all the way to hell, but I'm not interested.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
If someone is doing something that will send them to hell, sure they should be told. But if we jump to conclusions and judge others before we know the whole story, we are in error, ourselves. Also, there is more than one way of telling someone they're wrong. Some of those ways will bring others closer to God; some will push them further away. Therefore our "telling" should be not only with rebuke or reproof, but also exhortation.
One shining example of when "just tellin' it like it is" has gone too far: Westboro tells people they're heading toward an eternal flame. No matter how bad it hurts. They aren't afraid to tell people where they're going, and think EVERYONE is going there, except them. They aren't wasting any time trying to be nice. Are they helping anyone except themselves though, or are they only driving people away?

Sorry, but this statement reeks of works and legalism. Brother/Sister, if you are not sure you are gonna make it to heaven, then I suggest you better go on your knees and seek the face of God.
How can one not be sure of their salvation and yet say they believe in Jesus Christ?? Brother/Sister, we are justified by faith in the precious blood of the Lamb.
FYI, justification goes beyond forgiveness. Justification pretty much means we are spotless and without blemish in the sight of God due to the righteousness of Jesus Christ which has been imputed into the repentant sinner. In God's sight, we never committed any sin due to the blood of Jesus Christ and his righteousness. Can you believe that? That is truly the Grace of God
Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
Ps 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Jesus gives his children eternal life now (while they are still alive). IOW, I don't need to wait till I leave this earth to find out my eternal resting place. I am a 100% sure that I will be in heaven, not because of anything I have done, but all because of his righteousness, Amen!!!
Phil 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Are you sure YOU are gonna make it???
Let me say this again, I am gonna be in heaven (100% sure). Jesus gives me eternal life now. Eternal Life has no end. I know I will see my God who died for me. Oh, the precious Lamb of God who took away all my sins!!!
I have eternal life now, Amen!
I am always covered by his righteousness, therefore in God's sight, I am without sin. Whoo!!!
Now before anyone says I am advocating "sin as you like", let me say that a repentant sinner is given a new heart by God such that he/she does not desire to sin. However, it is possible that such a person might sin, but the person is NOT CONDEMNED. ( 1 John 2:1). Christ gives us the power to live above sin. This is a process of sanctification.
Oh and with regards to the outward, here's what Paul has to say about it:
Col 2
20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— 21 “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” 22 which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 T hese things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
Truth is rules and regulations do not stop people from indulging their flesh (sinning). Only the sanctifying power in the blood of Jesus Christ can purge your conscience from dead works to serve the Living God (Amen!!!) Heb 9:14
I have gotten off my soapbox

I'm willing to take the chance that this isn't what God is all about. Yep, I'm willing to risk it.
