Thank you for your encouraging words N.O.W. I know the Holy Spirit manifests itself in many wonderful ways, not just tongues. Most of all, the true evidence is not to be in the tongues, but in the fruit manifested in our lives. That is the truest indication that a person's life is surrendered to God, when they begin to manifest the fruits of the spirit, and not just speak "in tongues".
That being said, may I ask again this question to you...
"Do you believe the spirit of God, or the HG, can be given to a person without repentance? Just wondering. "
I'm sure there are a myriad of opinions about this and this could start a completely different discussion, I suppose. And, I think it would come down to a particular person's theology and exactly what defines the infilling of the Holy Spirit and when, why, and how that happens.
But, considering a number of factors, which I could spell out if you like and which also would reveal my fundamental theological difference with pentecostalism (and one of the verses in my signature would give a hint about that), my answer would be no.
I believe in salvation at repentance (first 17 verses of Romans 10, as well as many other references in the NT, including Romans 5 and Romans 8) and the Holy Spirit is the "Helper/Comforter" (John 14) that is given to empower that regenerated person.
Can a person "Speak in tongues" that hasn't "repented"? You could start a fight here on AFF with that question.
My Christmas:
I had Kidney Failure! Then my blood rotted!!! My Father offered me one of his kidneys. My family all lined up to give me blood transfusions. They all told me they were giving me the "gift" of life...but I refused, I didn't understand the process and did not accept their "gift"...I died...sucks don't it? But it was only a gift!!! Why did I HAVE to accept it? Well, I guess I found out...wish I would've taken it now...sucks I hate being dead.
My Christmas, as opposed to yours, involves one person who desperately wanted the kidney but wasn't able to perform all the tricks demanded of him. The guy in my Christmas, begged for the kidney. But since he couldn't run 40 times around the hospital, he was refused.
Your guy didn't want the kidney. Mine did. Your guy refused. Mine begged.

NOW, I just wanted to encourage your son to keep trying. I know you really want to give him his Christmas gifts. You know Ubaldo Jimenez lives near 100 mph. Maybe he could help your son.

Well, he did go into a slump the second half of the season last year after getting off to a 15-1 start. Can I really trust a guy that fell off so much and didn't have the stamina to last the entire season? Yet, your point is well taken...he throws hard and that's what I trying to get out of my son.
Another problem is, I belong to the Giants organization and Jimenez is a Rockie. I don't know if those people from other groups are really the real deal. But maybe if no one finds out, it'll be ok.
Maybe I'll give this a shot. Thank you for your suggestion.
I wanted to assure that Jimenez is the real deal. (GO ROCKIES!!) And falling off the second half of the season had more to do with run support than pitch speed. I assure you Ubaldo is a much better example for your son than Timmeh.

I misunderstood. Now I think I get what you're saying. You don't think the Rockies radar gun is accurate. ( I believe Lincecum has made this statement before.) So even if he hits 90 mph, it's not the real 90mph, because it wasn't at AT&T park. I see the dilemma.

This analogy just keeps getting better and better!!!
