Re: I Remember When...

I remeber one of my first bikes. A 29 inch with a bannana seat and high rise handlebars.

We would use cloths pins to attach playing cards to the front fork.

The cards would hit the spokes as they turned making us sound like motor cycles.

Apparently you do remember it!

LOL - - yes, and half the time the slide would be in upside down or sideways!

I'm even older than that. We had a single view slide projector. Lighted background and a magnifying glass and you slid the slide in it and viewed the picture!

Re: I Remember When...

I remember one of my first cameras. It took black and white polaroids.

You had a print in about 60 seconds. You then took a little sponge tool and covered the print with a potective coating.

The camera was called a "Swinger"

Re: I Remember When...

Does anyone remember "Pick-Up Stick" and "Jacks"?

What about "hopscotch"?

Pick-Up Sticks:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spillikins
http://www.gamesmuseum.uwaterloo.ca/...aws/index.html
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/6424

Looks like you can play something similar to this online:
http://www.boowakwala.com/stick/pick-up-stickgame.html

You can still buy them at Amazon (but they don't look like the ones I remember):
http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-4.../dp/B000INOXM0

Jacks:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacks

By the way, I was the School Champion in JACKS!...One of the few sports at which I excelled.

HopScotch:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hopscotch

http://www.gameskidsplay.net/GAMES/o.../hopscotch.htm

I was very good at HopScotch, too!...We had plenty of dirt on the playground and we used a broken piece of glass or a rock for our marker.

Re: I Remember When...

I love these little trips "into the thrilling days of yesteryear". Helps me to remember that I am not the only one getting... well.... not as young as I use to be.

Okay, what came first... the cassette tape or the 8-track tape? Seems that I can remember cassette tapes came out first (They might have been called 4 track tapes?), but the 8 tracks came out and took off because people loved the idea that the 5 songs on the 8 track would just keep playing over and over. You didn't have to turn the tape over.

Remember Ricky Nelson? All American boy, clean cut... the Nelsons was a model family. I remember William Branham saying Ricky Nelson was a greater evil influence on teenagers than Elvis was. He hated Ricky Nelson!
