Re: Salmon on the Grill

The thing to remember is that Trout is a delicate fish where Salmon has a stronger flavor. Salmon can stand up to bolder flavors where with trout less is really more.

so while the same prep will work, don't use near as much on trout.

I was just thinking about Salmon and a dish I had some time ago, it was served with a fennel cream sauce. sauté some fresh fennel bulb then make a basic cream reduction with a hint of anise. it was really awesome

Is fennel a type of onion?

I can't reconcile Ferd and those gourmet Chef terms.

Trout: I like trout battered and fried. Maybe flour, pepper, salt, corn meal

Re: Salmon on the Grill

How long does it take to cook large trout on the grill? And I do mean large. Average size is 24 inches in length and they are thick bodied.

And if the cedar planking is not an option, what else can be done?

Should they be wrapped in foil or just foil used to cover the grill?

You know what I just remembered I bought a book on grilling, I bet it has recipes in it for grilling fish. I need to check that out.

I know I have seen them wrap fish in foil and I have seen them you a fish thingy for cooking on the grill.

oh, and by the by, prep is part of the process. It should be included in the recipe outline!

RR is a fake and a liar! there I feel better.
RR has never claimed to be a "chef"...she, like Paula Deen, calls themselves "cooks"

I dont know if she's had formal training, but she does have some good food prep tips...and I like how she explains things AND she tells you what you can eliminate or substitute.
