Re: Grace Church Of Humble...
I guess with all the good word on Grace Church, I am going to have to check them out. I am looking for a new church to go to, although I will only be able to go to one service a week, since I live off of Highway 6.
I have great memories of Brett and Scott at the Texas District Camp grounds. Fine upstanding young men "way back"!

Re: Grace Church Of Humble...
I went to Grace Church Garden Oaks with my sister and brother in law on Sunday morning. Very low key. I am not used to that, but liked it.
The songs I had heard before so I was comfortable with that. The music leader really promoted worship. The band was GREAT! Could not really hear the praise and worship singers, they sung VERY quietly. Again, not what I am used to. You know how UPC church are. The louder the better! LOL!
Pastor Brett preached out of Psalms 51 and it was very good. My sister and brother in law are "go to church, leave right after" type of people, so I did not stay and visit or try to meet anyone. Although I did know a couple of people there.
I will be going back and I will be going to Grace Church Humble to check them out also.

Re: Grace Church Of Humble...
I realize this is an old thread but had to comment. My husband and I just recently joined Grace Church. Our background is not UPC - we were raised Apostolic under one of the greatest pastors in the Pentecostal movement, Bro. Murray E. Burr. That being said, and with all due respect for Bro. Burr, we love this church! We had been searching for so many years and the Jones' family along with the rest of the church have been so welcoming to our family. If you are anywhere near either location, I highly, highly recommend this church!

Wow! Now that must be culture shock to go from Murray E. Burr to Grace Church. LOL!!!
Glad you love the church. The Jone's are great people and doing a marvelous work in the Humble / Houston area.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
