I DO NOT condone their present actions, but I will not condemn them as devil possessed either.

For the record, I hope they repent too. Others have walked away from rock music because of an experience with God, I hope they do too. But I'm "ranting and raving" because they are on Letterman for crying out loud! They are PROMOTING sin, self abuse and Satan through their anti-Christ message. Like it or not, I am a preacher of the gospel and one of my duties is to warn people that this is not OK! This is the time for "ranting and raving" as you call it.

Of course not. But you seem to be saying that it's the case across the board, in support of your earlier assessment that these boys are demon-possessed, which you supported then with these comments:

So, no, I'm not saying it's impossible...I'm just a bit bemused by your reaction and your statements. I'm not supporting their actions at all. Many ministers' kids have suffered much greater difficulties and obstacles and made it through just fine, and ultimately God doesn't allow excuses, IMO.

I dunno. It just feels "funny" when you state with a measure of authority and definity that the boys ARE demon-possessed. That makes it a factual statement on your part, which is of course going to lead to curiosity from the rest of us as to how you know that. The videos I pulled up on youtube don't seem all that "rough"....??? I didn't watch all the videos available, and the ones I watched I didn't watch in entirety, so I can't really argue with you until I have, I suppose....

Try not to make the huge leap between answering curious questions to thinking I (and others) are supporting rebellion. It's a little silly.

They're sinners. I would expect such from them. My Dad was raised in an Apostolic home, and backslid as a teenager. He stayed that way and drank and caroused and had his own rock band and sinned as much as he possibly could until he was 39 years old, when he finally turned his life around and gave it all back to God. Do I think my father was demon-possessed???? Um...no. Hard-nosed sinner? Yes!!! Unreachable? No.

Johnny Godair once visited my Dad (along with another minister whose name I can't recall) and witnessed to him and my father disrespected him and blew smoke in his face, but the visit affected him a great deal and was probably one of the many catalysts that finally brought him back to where he needed to be.

Anyway, I just don't think I can agree with the idea that all backsliders are demon-possessed.

That's why I said that I base my assessment PARTLY on the scriptures and the rest on my discernment. I was heavily involved in the rock and roll scene and have seen it. I guess that I am just a little surprised that so many Apostolics are acting as if it would be some wildly unbelievable phenomenon.
