Re: Obama and His Entourage are Supposed to be Sma
Deacon Blues:
According to you the policies of our now sitting President will “sink us deeper into the abyss”. The body of Christ which is the church hath many members, and I am one of those members; and I've no doubt you consider yourself to a member of the body of Christ as well. The church cannot sink into an abyss. You stated that I “credence to the idea that when things don’t go your way or your party loses”. The only thing that I give credence is to the Holy Ghost. I’m not concerned about our nation seeking into any “abyss”; I am concerned with being caught up out of this wretched world. I have no affiliation or loyalty to any political party; neither do I have any loyalty to any political figure or their ideologies. My foot standeth in an even place. If a politician holds to something that lines up with the Word of God then I am all for it; and those ideologies don’t come from the person they come from Christ. I praise God for whomever he chooses to place as our President, because His divine will is and will continue to be done. I don’t presume to know you, neither have I insinuated that I know (as you put it) “so much about” you. However, we as people are able to judge a person’s character (not in its entirety, but in part) based on the things that they say. So, I don’t have to know everything about you or anyone else for that matter, yet, the Word of God is true, for out of the abundance of the mouth speaketh.
You have gone to great lengths to establish the point that you are not a racist, from speaking of your African American friends, your African American acquaintances, your African American parishioners, the half-African American female you dated, oh, and let’s not forget your big name dropper Smokey Norful. I’m faking being offended, then I’m offended if anyone criticizes the President (and place it under the “flimsy umbrella of racism), and last but not least I just “want” to be offended. Quite frankly, you sound as though you have no idea as to whether or not I am or am not offended. Thus, I’ll be very clear and concise. In no shape, form, or fashion am I offended. Sir, the umbrella of racism is by no means flimsy, it is a harsh and ungodly reality of the world that you and I both live in. The reality is that at some point everyone’s life will at some point be touched by racism either directly or indirectly. I have experienced it and seen others of various ethnicities experience it, and in no way was the situation flimsy. I find it quite sad that you would actually tell someone to go to another individual and ask them to validate your feelings as a person. I will not nor will I (for anyone else) ask another individual to validate the feelings, emotions, or mindset of another. Your perspective is quite clear that by asking other African Americans, I would be able to tell that you are not a racist, which is not the case. Here is a true story: A White pastor sent his daughter out of the state because she liked an African American brother in the congregation. He did not want his daughter involved or marrying an African American, it would ruin his reputation. This same pastor had and still has African American parishioners. Now, did that mean he wasn’t racist and bigoted, no it didn’t; those were his feelings towards African Americans. This same pastor refused to marry couples where one was African American and the other was White. I witnessed this, and in one case the other person’s ethnicity wasn’t even White. She “looked” White (although she made it clear that she wasn’t; she was Mexican), but because she looked it, that is what it was. Unfortunately, they left the congregation; they were married elsewhere, and God has blessed them with a beautiful family. I am glad that this occurrence didn’t destroy them spiritually. So, you’re pointing out that you have African American parishioners doesn’t amount to a hill of beans, and I don’t say that with any animosity towards you. If you are not racist say that you are not racist. It speaks volumes of your character that as a person you feel I called you a racist (which I did not), skirted that by mentioning you have African American friends and acquaintances, and say go ask someone else if I am.
Okay, so you’ve listed an unknown source to prove that it isn’t racist to assume that African Americans support the President. You’ve stated from some source that 93% of African Americans voted for B.O. and generally support him. The 93% you stated is erroneous because all African Americans in this nation of voting age did not vote for various reasons: 1) some convicted felons incarcerated cannot vote and some convicted of a felon no longer incarcerated had their right to vote permanently stripped by the state in which they are domiciled; 2) they voted for another candidate; and 3) all African Americans that could vote or did vote were not polled on whom they voted for. Thus, you have less than 100% of African Americans voting in the last presidential election. I’m not sure whether or not you have studied statistics and formulating research questions (be it formally or informally…I don’t it matters which), but one with knowledge of this is aware that you cannot emphatically state “all” unless you have questioned “all”; otherwise all you have is just a sampling of what may/may not be. The 93% is more than likely based upon African Americans that did vote in the election, thus, the research question was probably something like this; “Of the African Americans who voted how many voted for Obama?”.
You have chosen to place an entire ethnicity of people in a box based on some flawed statistic that you hold to as fact, and feel that, that isn’t racist. It is stereotypical to do, because you have now stripped an ethnicity of people of their individual autonomy (which I expressed in another post in this discussion). God has given each of us the ability to choose, and to take the stance that you have is to be in contradiction with God. As I stated before I have no animosity and neither am I offended, my foot standeth in an even place. While we may continue to disagree on the matter; I see no reason for unity of Spirit not to continue; as the scripture says “how good and how pleasant it is for the brethren to dwell together in unity”.
