Some people let TV become a God to them - thus I believe God could convict you to not have a TV. To others - jewelry could be their obsession - to others - makeup - if you cannot walk out of the door without being sure you have your makeup up on then maybe you need to pray about that - that is jut my opinion on convictions

TV can be bad for you too and can become an addiction also.

Interesting point. I don't disagree. However is it possible to let convictions get between themselves and God? What I mean is can a person look at things too closely and 'feel convicted' when in actuality God might not be convicting that person. I know people that won't eat at Applebees cause they have a TV and a bar, but yet will watch tons of tv. How does that measure out? I believe that it is possible to have so many convicitons that those convictions are worshipped more than God Himself. Too heavenly minded and no earthly good.

Re: Convictions

See thats what I don't understand if you don't like something you just don't like it god did not convict you of it. I asked my wife why does she not wear pants she says it is her conviction from god. I said so god only convicts "Certain women" to wear skirts and no one else the same "CONVICTION" plus it is not even in the bible so how can god convict you of it.

You are right and a God driven concious will reel you back when you go too far. But there are things that are easy to tell "that and this are bad for me." I don't mind if someone has 'higher' convictions than I do and I am cool with that. However, I can not sit by and let someone say that TV and certain things are wrong when clearly ANYTHING can be wrong when it comes between God and I.

Re: Convictions

KWSS, I feel that God convicts people of sin. Often times we convict one another with what we call sin or feel that God doesn't like, etc. There are things that are not healthy, drugs and eating too much, but not all are sins. Illegal drugs are not always harmful, but they can become harmful. Perscription drugs are as addictive as street drugs some have more complications. TV and internet can be addictive too, but at the end of the day we live for God and not for man. That is why God allows us to listen to His lead.
