Calling upon the Elders...shall be healed...
Elders, there is a need to teach on respect for the Elders such as not to rebuke an Elder, or otherwise get sassy with one even on the Forum. Elders 'correct, judge Elders' and it is unbecoming of holiness women who are under commandment to be quiet, meek, and silent before the Elders. Women are not to give any ocassion for the adversary to speak ill of the way of God. Elders ONLY please post on this thread. Perhaps the ladies will post a thread of their own. Thanks.

Re: Calling upon the Elders...shall be healed...
See, the thing is, "Terry G.", is that I don't know who you are. I don't know if you're 70 or 17. You aren't in authority over me, and I don't know you. God I know, my husband I know, my pastor I know, but who are you?
Women aren't subjected to all men--just God and their husband and THEIR leaders. If I had to be subject to ALL men, I'd have to submit to the man who bags my groceries or submit to the guy who repairs our phone lines.
Interesting point, though...didn't you start a thread "correcting" your elder, LB? Isn't he your elder?
P.S. You're not an Admin here, ergo, you don't get to tell anyone where they can post.

LOL... Good Morning MB... How is your day going?
I was rather proud of us that no one had posted in here... but you did a pretty good job when you did post in here.

LOL!!! My day is going fine! I'm about to go run a couple of errands. I just happened upon this thread, and I suppose I couldn't pass it up since it was probably aimed at me.
*feelin' spunky*

Re: Calling upon the Elders...shall be healed...
The Bible says something about weighing the spirits...
The men that I know that fulfill the Bible mandate as an elder do not have to scream respect me...it comes as a natural thing...
Dear one...labor, a life lived for Jesus, a man of convictions no one that has the right spirit has trouble respecting...
I do not agree with every man that is an elder for they do not even agree among themselves...however respect is different than being in agreement.

Re: Calling upon the Elders...shall be healed...
King James Version (KJV)
Public Domain
1 Thessalonians 4 (King James Version)
1 Thessalonians 4
1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, (this would include all young and old) and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
9But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
11And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Especially verse 11 woud be to the men since men were given the commandment after the fall in Gen to work...so sounds like God put a silence command to them too!
Dear one, KNOWING when to be silent is a jewel...hasty words are words we live long to regret...
If we study long and hard we will all men and women know when to be silent...I cannot agree that silence is ALWAYS a sign of respect or honor....
