I guess I am jaded, but most of these pictures were taken to portray Obama in a compassionate, softer way. I do like a lot of things that Obama has to say, but I wonder about his ability to deliver on the promises. jmho

Yes, it's possible that you are a bit jaded.

Political photo ops. My youngest daughter had her picture taken with a candidate for Governor of Texas, when she was little.

I think it's important to put Obama's statement in context. While addressing a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Sen. Obama said, "When it comes specifically to HIV/AIDS, the most important prevention is education, which should include -- which should include abstinence education and teaching the children -- teaching children, you know, that sex is not something casual," he said.
"But it should also include -- it should also include other, you know, information about contraception because, look, I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old," he added.
"I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby," Obama said.
Obama's statement about being punished with a child is based on a radical right wing idea. It's often argued that a woman who has a crisis pregnancy, "asked for it", by committing the sin. The right wing notion is that becoming pregnant and giving birth is a just punishment upon the sinful woman. Obama's position is that it isn't right to "punish" a woman with a baby. Babies shouldn't be used as a weapon to punish women, women shouldn't be forced to give birth as a punishment for their sexual sin.
Obama didn't mean that children in general are a punishment.

I think in putting his words "in context" you you've ended up [unnecessarily] adding somewhat to what the man meant. The so-called "context" you provide only serves to embellish the situation in such a way as to point the finger of blame away from Obama and onto the "right wing". Somehow in all your explanations it seems you just have to take a shot at the so-called right wing. Its absurd. Not surprising, though, of course. Your M.O. has been consistent, if nothing else, as the apparent defender of all things Democrat, Liberal, and Socialist.
Obama said what he said, period. No need to drag the right wing into this. It ain't necessary at all. The so-called right wing had nothing to do with what the man said.
---------------
And I often wonder....why is it most liberals are quick to refer to people as "right wing", but rarely or never refer to themselves as "left wing" ? kinda strange.
How about it sir. Why is it that we've never seen you refer to the "radical left wing"... ever?
(rhetorical question,of course.., no response needed.)

Most of my friends are "right wingers" I have been called a "right winger" and I have never heard any of us say or alude to children being punishment on the parents for sins commited.
Thats just "left wing" propoganda attempting to discredit any argument from the right.
Children are not the punishment. Not having a spouse to share in the joys and duties can certainly be effects of bad decisions. But the kids are not punishment.

Here is the explanation to that query...
"Anything even slightly right of center is officially a "Right wing extremist."
Anything left of center is "moderate or progressive"
By the way, "center" is NOT defined as "a bipartisan position unswayed by either view, a position taken by facts alone." No, center is defined as "halfway between the facts and the far left fringe."
That way, even those who my truly by in the center, can be deemed as "right wingers" and the only view accepted as the truth is that of the left.
