Girl dies in a car accident while sending text msg

If you look around any group of young people younger than 30 and those older on their Blackberrys you will see a certain percentage sending text messaging and emailing, oblivious to the world.

I have been guilty sending emails and even looking at maps on my blackberry (posting on AFF during church notwithstanding), while driving and several times I have had close calls...

I have pretty much given it up after having the droppings scared out of me.

How many of you text or email or post while driving?

Well...I suggest you give it up, but I am not going to advocate a law to dictate your morality.

The worst I've done is walking and txting.

After a couple near misses with poles, I gave it up too.

Re: Girl dies in a car accident while sending text

I admit that I have texted (sp) a few times while driving. But I can't see the screen because I don't have on reading glasses while I'm driving, so my son just informed me the other day that I have spelled a lot of things wrong lately while texting. LOL! From now on, I will have to text when I can actually wear my reading glasses.

Re: Girl dies in a car accident while sending text

That girl had also been drinking. Driving and texting are bad enough but when you add alcohol into the mix that is pretty much asking for the worst to happen.

I had read an article earlier this year similar to this where a girl was actually in the middle of either texting or talking to her mom when he had a fatal car accident. Very sad.

I have been quilty of sending a short email or two on my Blackberry while driving down a nearly deserted rural four lane I drive on often. Not often though. I generally pull over if I need to respond to an email.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Guilty. I answer emails on my bb all the time while driving. I have taught my wife how to use my bb so if she is with me she will send my dictated emails.

Re: Girl dies in a car accident while sending text

Same thing happened to a teen just down the street from us, about a year ago. Or so they think - not sure.

Me? I can barely text while I'm texting! I'd rather just call and talk. Texting is too slow.

Someone made a tribute to her on YouTube.
Very sad.

I am using this story as my "safety minute" this morning in our daily status meeting. It's very serious.......

How about just using the phone the way it's intended to be used.

The Greek word "phone" means voice, not text "grammea."

Individual texing while driving is just another way to thin the herd.
