Resolution 3 Massacre Begins in South Texas Dist.

The South Texas District has allegedly moved quickly to place various ministers in the NCO and ex UPCI mega church pastor in San Antonio under question.

Various UPCI evangelists have received letters reprimanding them for preaching for various churches in the area from the South Texas District and their Supt....

Of course ... how were they to know????

This apparently was the goal of Resolution 3 when it passed at the last GC .... and we are now seeing the much talked about anticipated results ...

Some of the ministers placed under question left years ago .... btw.

I'm sure California will be moving quickly or already has places some the WPF guys under question ...

Resolution 3 was invoked in Miss. by their Supt ... last fall ... for more on this read this thread:
http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...ead.php?t=9164

--------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly, if you are not sure what Res. 3 states, it reads:

Whereas there has not been a clear definition of the terms "under question" and "conduct unbecoming a minister," and

Whereas there seems to be a difference in these terms,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that article VII, Section 7, Paragraph 21 is changed to read as follows:

21. No minister who withdraws or is dropped from our fellowship, whose conduct is under question, shall be allowed to preach for any of our ministers, nor pastor any of our churches. Neither shall any minister of the United Pentecostal Church International fellowship be allowed to preach or participate in any form in any services (except funerals and weddings) sponsored or conducted by any minister who has withdrawn or been dropped, whose conduct is under question. This does not apply to anyone being used in any capacity in his or her local assembly, with the exception of the position of associate pastor or assistant pastor.

(a) The term "under question" shall be taken to mean a formal decision by a District Board reflecting a concern that conduct in flagrant violation of the Manual of the United Pentecostal Church International has occurred.

(b) The term "conduct unbecoming a minister" shall be taken to mean any conduct of a moral, financial, or ethical nature that would cause a reproach upon the ministry.

Re: Resolution 3 Massacre Begins in South Texas Di

I wonder how much of a stink the right Reverend Bernard will make the next time Kenneth Phillips goes to preach for Anthony Mangun and vice-versa.

I'm sure it's no different than the old fellowshiip rules.

In the UPC the hammer comes down selectively depending on how much stroke you have.

And face it ... weddings and funerals are sacred services.

If it's taboo to preach in a guy's church because he's NCO or whatever, shouldn't it be taboo for a UPC preacher to preach a funeral or wedding in that same church?

I'm not blaming the "new" generation for this ... that rule has been on the books a long time.

The UPC manual and its selective enforcement has been mostly devoid of common sense since long before my salad days in the ministry.

Might be a strong word to use, but...
the word "fascism" comes to mind here.

Very sad.

You're not kidding ... friends now against old friends ...

One of the men placed under question was good friends w/ the present Supt ... and helped him write the charter for the newly formed South Texas District. Helping him essentially become it's first Supt. ... Now this ...

Re: Resolution 3 Massacre Begins in South Texas Di

I still want to know who authored this Resolution??? Does anyone know ??... I thought the author often reads the resolution on the floor.

If it was a con ... then it back fired ...

If it was a mod ... they had foresight to know that this could be used to prune those on both extremes.

Dan I do not know for sure if it was on the thread where all the resolutions happened or not but you and I actually had this same conversation then and someone came in and said who they thought had authored it but I do not for the life of me remember and I cant get my post list to go back that far...I seem to remember it being Con but not 100% sure.
