How Would You Respond???

My MIL called and said that she was prayed for at church on Sunday and she believes that God has healed her of her high blood pressure and Parkinson's disease! She is wanting to throw away all of her medications to show her faith in her healing!

She lives in another state, so we were not there when all of this happened. Mrs. Pianoman and I are really happy for her, but at the same time we are cautious.

We have asked her to not throw the medications away, but to just put them away for the time being. If after a time, no symptoms of Parkinson's disease or high blood pressure show up, then she would be safe to toss the medications out!

We would just hate for her to have a stroke caused by the high blood pressure, or for her Parkinson's symptoms to get irreversibly worse because she THOUGHT she was healed when she wasn't.

What would you do? Are we being too cautious? Do WE have a lack of faith?

To me, if I heard an audible voice from God saying to "throw them away! Your healed!", I would listen. But if the preacher/visiting evangelist was the one to tell her, then step in with a bold "Belay that order!" and tell her to keep them!

We are trying to walk the fine line of not doubting her faith in her healing! It's not easy when you are on the sidelines knowing what could happen if she has not actually been healed!

Don't do it PM !!!

seriously, I have a sister who did this and ending up
having seizures. the preacher told her to do it as an
act of faith. It actually hurt her faith for many years.

Just wait it out

Re: How Would You Respond???

I have seen healings. I have also seen people dancing on broken legs, with the endorphins produced by the worship blocking the pain making them think they were healed. Afterwords they found permanent damage done because of the jumping. Oh yes, the crutches were thrown away that night because the searing pain set in a few hours later......

My suggestion would be for her to visit her doctor before she quits taking the meds.

This is an excellent suggestion.

If she's truly healed, an examination will bear witness.

Actually she needs to go to a Doctor, if God has really healed her then a Doctor will confirm it, receiving confirmation does not diminish faith, matter of fact it only enhances a genuine testimony to a healing professional that God does intervene on the behalf of his children.

Jesus told a man cleansed of leprosy to go and show himself to a priest (type of healing professional) who would verify that a man who was considered ritually unclean is now clean.
