Newbie looking for some oldtime Christian music
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Not sure if I'm posting it in the right forum or not, but
I'm looking for a couple of pieces of music. One is called "Harvest Time"..the words are
Harvest time, it's harvest time, the fields are calling, the grain is falling, oh do not wait, it's growing late, behold the fields are white it's harvest time.
Anyone know where I might get a copy of that?
The other one is The old Violin.
It goes
In a quiet dusty corner
stood an old violin
It's ____ were torn and tattered and
....something something within
and the chorus is
And I was that old violin
Mine was the muted Bow,
His were the nail-scarred hands...
that's all the words I remember of it.
Would love to have that to sing some time or have someone else sing.
OH and does anyone know of Janice Sjostrand? I thought I saw a thread that had her name on it. I have a cassette of hers that she sent me years ago. When I need a jolt from the Holy Spirit I play that cassette. I'd like to buy some CDs of hers.

This may not be the one you're wanting about "The Old Violin" but here's one I recall..Turn up your sound.

No, thanks, but that's not the song I'm thinking of. I used to have several albums by Jack Holcomb and thought he had recorded it, but now I remember a picture of a heavy set man on the cover...not Doug Oldham, but before his time. Wish I had saved it.
Still wanting to buy a CD of Janice's. Or two. Or three or whatever she has recorded.

bumping this one because it's lost and for loren.
I want to buy some CDs of Janice Sjostrand's music AND I want to purchase a hymnal or the sheet music to Harvest Time and the older gospel music.

I am pretty sure this is not it, but could this be the one you are thinking of?
The Touch of the Master's Hand
[IMAGE]
"Twas battered and scared, and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste much time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile.
"What am I bidden, good folks," he cried,
"Who'll start bidding for me?
A dollar, a dollar - now who"ll make it two _
Two dollars, and who"ll make it three?
"Three dollars once, three dollars twice,
Going for three". . . but no!
From the room far back a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow;
Then wiping the dust from the old violin,
And tightening up the strings,
He played a melody, pure and sweet,
As sweet as an angel sings.
The music ceased and the auctioneer
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said: "What am I bidden for the old violin?"
And he held it up with the bow;
"A thousand dollars - and who'll make it two?
Two thousand - and who'll make it three?
Three thousand once, three thousand twice
And going - and gone," said he.
The people cheered, but some of them cried,
"We do not quite understand -
What changed its worth?" The man replied:
"The touch of the masters hand."
And many a man with life out of tune,
And battered and torn with sin,
Is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless crowd.
Much like the old violin.
A "mess of pottage," a glass of wine,
A game and he travels on,
He's going once, and going twice -
He's going - and almost gone!
But the MASTER comes, and the foolish crowd,
Never can quite understand,
The worth of a soul, and the change that's wrought
By the touch of the MASTER'S hand.

No Phil. The words are as above. A beautiful song. I can hear it, and the man who sang it and I can see his picture on the album cover, but just don't remember his name. Also still looking for the sheet music to Harvest Time.
Or a songbook that might have it in it.
thanks for your interest though.
No, not Hugh Rose. thanks again.
