Change a .pdf to a .doc ?

At work, we get scanned documents in .pdf format.

We need to convert them so we can type and cut and paste and move and all sorts of stuff. But when we try to convert them through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) we get whacked out gobbledy-gook. It does recognize most of the characters, but it will insert wacky formats and characters, etc.

HELP!!!

What would be a better approach to this situation????

Nothing good out there for free... at least that I have found. This is OK. I've tried the pdf to excel free trial from these guys. It worked decent enough. I have not tried the pdf to word program but I'm sure it is similar.

What do others in the office do with them?

PDF is a format of Adobe/Corel Both Adobe products and Corel will allow you to edit PDF documents.

It'd be much better if you can get the document originators to email them to you. But I'm supposing you've already tried that.

We're using OCR, but it's not such a good thing. We really need to buy a program...because we use this type of thing all the time. In a law office we get .pdf files all the time. It would be nice to be able to manipulate documents that are sent to us by opposing counsel i.e. Interrogatories and Requests for production. These documents are forever long and it would be soooo nice to be able to use their original document and just paste in our answers in the "original" document.
