You are right, but at least they have some leverage to keep some conservative representative in congress, and appoint conservative judges once in a while. It contains the evil at least a little bit, for now.
Is it sufficient? no. I'm just comparing to other countries where the progressive population is so overwhelmingly large that there is literally no restrain.

While we were watching Canada, 4 GOP Senators (Romney, Graham, Inhofe, and Burr) skipped a vote that would have defunded Biden's mandates.

And then after watching that vote go down, 19 GOP Senators voted FOR funding mandates. Most don't surprise me, though I was surprised that Kennedy from LA voted to fund the vax or be fired mandates.

There is always "literal tyranny in our time", in every one of us every day we wake up and look in the mirror and examine our hearts. Like Adam and Eve before us, we all want to be gods. Some of us, but not enough of us, have been graced with the great fortune of being granted repentance from such delusions. The rest, however, just keep plugging away.
