Young Man At Church About To Be Homeless...

There is a young man, not even 25 yet, who is about to lose his apartment. He lost his job and he says he has not been able to find work. I don't believe that he wasn't able to find work. He is saved, but I believe he is irresponsible and a bit lazy to be honest. I don't want to see him homeless. It will just compound his issues with trying to re-establish stability. I don't think it looks good for the church for him to be homeless either. Some would see and then say, "What good is a church that lets its members become homeless without helping them." The misses doesn't think it is a good idea for him to stay with us and I am really unsure as to what I should do-- if I should do any thing at all. I am not his Pastor, but I have ministered to this young man numerous times. What would you do?

Is he a faithful member? Is he living for Christ? Does he have a habit of asking others to pay his bills? If he is faithful to Jesus Christ and the Pastor does nothing to keep him off the streets it would be shamfeul indeed. What is Church for?

He could do work for the church in exchange for help keeping his apartment.

Or his parents/family could help out.

Yes he is a faithful member. Yes he is living for Christ. As far as I know he doesn't ask people for money for stuff. He is just not as motivated as he could be when it comes to work. He could have been had another job or he could just go to school or trade school-- but he hasn't done any of these things.

Not sure if the church is going to do or offer anything. There isn't anything he could do that other people are not already doing. To be honest, I don't think the church is going to do anything for this young man in a natural capacity because those familiar with his situation are convinced that he could find work if he really wanted to find work. The fact that he is single and does not have a family also contributes to my guesswork concerning the church not stepping in to help this young man. His parents/family are not in this picture. They are not a source of anything positive.

If the guy is a bum then shouldn't the church put him out? If not then the church should do something. If he's a faithful member, of a church that won't help out at all, then I'd suggest he find another church.

the comment I deleted was that "when the prodigal came to himself he returned to his Father."

I deleted it because this young man is saved, but on the other hand the scripture says, if you don't work you don't eat.
