The LXX
So I started reading the LXX today and the first thing I noticed was that in Genesis 2:7 "man became a living being" whereas in the KJV it says "living soul"
and I think the passage is significant because of the believe in conditional immortality, right?
I also wonder, did Adam have the Spirit of God living inside him and then lose the Spirit when he sinned?
Also, maybe someone would like to tell me what are the most important doctrinal differences that the LXX support, versus the KJV, if any?

Re: The LXX
Comparing the LXX to the KJV is like comparing oranges to apples.
The term LXX or Septuagint refers to any Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures. Not all of the Greek translation was done by the same person or at the same time.
I do not remember the relationship between the LXX and the KJV, if there is one.
In some places, the LXX reads quite differently that the KJV. But I don't recall any church fathers noticing differences that were theologically significant.
Others here will certainly have more informed answers than my own.
I suggest one pick up a book about the LXX for a more detailed presentation of information.

Re: The LXX
I'm doing some google research, it seems that the best reason to read the LXX is that when the NT writers quoted OT scripture they often quoted the LXX. so having the Masoretic version of the OT doesn't line up with the NT as well as the LXX does. Also LXX seems to be an older version of the OT texts then the Masorectic version . . . and the KJV version is based on the Masorectic text.

Re: The LXX
In a few places the KJV seems to follow the LXX, though only rarely.
I do not know of any doctrines that are wholly dependent on the Greek, although many prophecies concerning Christ seem to be more readily seen in the LXX than the later Masoretic text (the main reason the Jews abandoned the Greek).

It's kind of iffy using an English translation of the LXX. I use interlinears so I can see the Greek. Sometimes the English translators miss it.
As for living soul vs living being, they mean the same thing. The Greek term in that verse is psuche and is usually translated soul.

Sister, the word ψυχὴν appears as soul Matthew 10:28, Matthew 16:26, Mark 8:36, Luke 2:35, Luke 12:20, Acts 2:27, Romans 2:9, 2 Corinthians 1:23, and James 5:20.
But I would like to point you to were the Apostle Paul quotes Genesis 2:7 in 1 Corinthians 15:45. The KJV faithfully sticks with living soul.
Get yourself a good LXX Lexicon.
Or else be at the mercy of the interpreter of whatever LXX you happen to be reading.

 ψυχὴν ζῶσαν, living soul.

No. I think eating the fruit of Life would put the Spirit of God in him. And he never ate the fruit of life.

A book about the LXX? That's like telling someone to investigate One God Pentecostalism to get a book about them.
I read both and end up walking away shaking my head.

Re: The LXX
The original LXX was written for Jews living in Alexandria Egypt. Its original version only contained the first five books. It evolved to contain many more books than the Masorite text. It is the official Bible of the Eastern Catholic Church.
