Man is Created: the Body & the Breath
The Body of Dust and...
Man had already been created “…in his image…”. Had God not formed a body for
Adam (the spirit), man would have been the same as the angels. As an angel, man
would not be bound to the earth. However, God’s plan and instructions to Adam
was to "…be fruitful and multiply…fill the earth and subdue it…" With a body of dust
(the same material as the earth), Adam was bound to the earth to fulfill God's will!
Even as a newborn child is bound to his mother by the umbilical cord, so it is that
man is bound to the earth by his body of dust. God made the natural laws subject
to the spiritual laws; therefore, the Law of Gravity is not only applicable to the
natural realm, but to the spiritual realm, as well. So as the earth uses gravity to
pull us to itself, the calling of the Lord draws us to Him! As we can now see "...the
Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground…”.
...the Breath of Life
Adam was given a body of dust. He was a spirit-being encased in a shell of dust with-
out direction, until he received the Breath of Life. That breath produced a heartbeat,
and then blood began to circulate through his veins. Adam understood that he now
possessed mobility and control over his bodily movements. With this mobility, Adam was
also wisely given direction and responsibility! He was not just bound to the earth: but
God had a very deliberate purpose for Adam. If you can receive this:
“Man believes in his heart, repents with his soul, and obeys with his body.”
