Golgotha

Jesus was crucified in "the place of the skull" which is the literal meaning of Golgotha in Hebrew and Calvary in Latin. Paul taught that we need to UNDERSTAND and KNOW we died with Him that day. And when we get crucified in the place of the skull, OUR UNDERSTANDING, then KNOWING that truth will really make us free from so much defeatism and worry and burden we tolerate far too much.

When we died with Him, we shared his following burial, resurrection, ascension and enthronement. We are seated together with Him in heavenly places. And he's seated afar above all powers and names. So, if we're seated with Him, why worry about anything? And all of that began with our deaths with Him on the cross. So it all starts by UNDERSTANDING this in the PLACE OF THE SKULL... place of our understanding!

Rom 6:3 KJV Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Rom 6:6 KJV Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Joh 8:32 KJV And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Re: Golgotha

Sisera was captain of the enemy power that ruled over Israel when they went into sin. Those were the days when Deborah was judge and prophetess.

Deborah had a word fm God for Barak, Israel's military leader. Draw Sisera into Kedesh and God will give victory over the enemy.

Barak doubted and would not go unless Deborah went as well. So, she told him she'd go, but God would give the honour of victory to a woman.

All the enemy soldiers were killed but Sisera escaped. A housewife of Heber saw him and told him to hide in her tent. While he slept she took a nail and drove it through his temples in his head. A woman got the honour.

But the nail speaks of the crucifixion of Jesus. Driving it into Siseras head represents getting the truth of the cross into our Carnal minds to slay them so the enemy cannot use our own carnal thinking any more. Without Sisera, King Jabin was useless. Satan is useless without our carnal minds. He feeds from dust of the ground, from where our flesh was created. Remove fleshly thinking and satan has no food. Remove the carnal mind by driving the truth of the cross into it, and we have victory.

That's why Paul said we have to KNOW our baptism baptized us into Christ's death. Knowing these truths kills the doubting carnal mind.

Barak did not get honour since he was too doubtful.

A woman also stands for the church, the bride. And the church needs to drive the truth of the cross into our carnal minds and see defeat vanquished.

Re: Golgotha

I once preached about Sisera's head "nailed" by Jael. And someone came up to me and noted the cross was planted in the hill called the PLACE OF THE SKULL. Jael showed that in foreshadow.

In effect, He also had the enemy's head under his feet crushing it... as the prophecy to the serpent foretold.

The Place of the Skull was an actual place. There is enough actual truths taught in Scripture that one need not impose any unintended meaning to a text. Also, this place wasn't known as a place of understanding... it was a place of death and woe.

I think this is one of my main gripes with the forms of Preterism I've studied. They take a text and make it mean whatever they seem to want it to mean to teach some secret or hidden truth (Gnosticism?). Such a practice doesn't need true biblical knowledge, only imagination. For example, let me show you how it's done...

John 6:10
And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
Jesus understood the need for rest and recreation. In fact, Jesus would want us to find something peaceful and recreational to do. Like, smoking a doobie. The Bible says, "there was much grass there". That's right, "grass". And we all know what "grass" means. Grass is an herb, in Genesis we read:
Genesis 1:11
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Genesis 1:12
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
God made these seedy little herbs, and he made them to be enjoyed! Everyone knows what "herb" is. So, let's not kid ourselves. In fact, we can even cook these herbs in brownies and eat them. Don't believe me? The Bible says...
Genesis 1:29
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
That's right, these seedy little herbs are given to be "meat"! We can freely eat them too! So, break out the brownie mix, find much grass, and sit down with God, recreation and relaxation is desperately needed in this day and age. In fact, these little herbs are not only good for recreation and relaxation, they are good for medicinal purposes too! The Bible says:
Revelation 22:2
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Did you know that there are at least 12 manner of weed? Bet you didn't! And God gave these things to us for the "healing of the nations". That's right, c'mon people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now!

LOL!!!

A play on a word, or phrase, then stringing along several texts that appear to justify the presupposition, isn't truly teaching the Bible or its spiritual truths. We do well to truly become expository in our teaching without imposing personal thoughts of fancy. Let us lean not, to our own understanding.

Of course it was an actual place. You missed my point. there is a message in the thought that he was crucified on an actual hill called PLACE OF THE SKULL. God did that for a reason.

No. There was an actual hill called Golgotha. This has nothing to do with preterism.

God did things like this. And when we read Romans 6 and see how much truth is involved in KNOWING about the cross, and notice in Genesis 3 that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent's head, God had all of that in mind. It is not imagining anything. lol. It is noticing what the bible said in association with the cross and its work and noticing the names of the hill in various languages, etc., are there for a reason. There was an actual hill called Golgotha. But the way God orchestrated all of this was to send a message at the same time that fits exactly and precisely with what the New Testament teaches about the work do the cross.

Jesus would crush the serpent's head. Beneath his feet on the cross that did the work, according to Heb 2:14, was a hill called place of the skull. You're saying that's coincidence? Paul takes the truth of the cross and teaches it to people to help them realize their deaths with Christ are grounds for them to have victory in everyday living, thereby effectively destroying carnal thoughts that think otherwise due to lack of knowledge. Thew mess that threw mankind from the garden was the fruit of the KNOWLEDGE OF good and evil. And it's just a coincidence that the hill was called PLACE OF THE SKULL without no hand of God in trying to tell us something that is exactly, and no more, what Paul taught the church?

Gnosticism is supposing secret knowledge is available for more "spiritual" people. That is so far from truth. What I am alleging is that everything God tries to say using physical realities is laid out plainly in the New Testament teaching. How can that be secret knowledge?

Where's marijuana in the bible taught like the example you laid out? See the issue?

Everything I stated about the typology using actual historical scenes and facts are ONLY limited to what Paul actually taught in Romans 6. You don't see me having done that?

All that I did was use the pictures used at the crucifixion and saw them as object lessons for the actual teaching of the Book of Romans Chapter 6. Nothing apart from what Paul taught in Romans 6 was my goal in using that picture of the crucifixion hill. Nothing. All that I did was see everything Paul taught, and only what Paul actually taught, about the work of the cross in physical form in the actual crucifixion's scenery. Nothing more. I proposed no doctrine that is outside and apart from the actual bible's teachings.

It's actually a way of more easily allowing people to be able to grasp what teachings Paul gave to the Romans, for example as in this case. Jesus used parables for the same reason -- pictures that people were familiar with in order to teach them spiritual truths He explicitly taught. But in this case these are historical actualities that occurred, and serve a role of being object lessons for only what the apostles taught and nothing aside from that.

That is so far from your example of grass and marijuana, I cannot describe it. lol Where did Paul teach use of marijuana? Where did John say anything about 12 kinds of "pot"? Surely you can see the difference. Where is there anything I said as the point of the picture of the hill that was not strictly limited to what Paul stated as doctrine?

I'm trying to say what Paul taught in Romans 6. KNOW the truth of the cross and get victory over sinful living and grow spiritually strong so as to not be weak and failing all the time. Don't you get that from Romans 6?

Re: Golgotha

Aquila, what say ye about this verse?

Pro 25:2 KJV It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

God has treasures in His word.

Col 2:2-3 KJV That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; (3) In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

But it's truths that are laid out in scripture. This is the entire basis and foundation of typology, as what Hebrews 9 did with the Tabernacle. If someone sees something the New Testament does not teach, like your example of grass and weed, it's off-the-wall and certifiable nutcase fantasy. But when the message we see is clearly laid out in scripture, it's God. What I am saying is that the message I say in the naming of the hill for the scene of the cross is truth laid out in plain form in Romans.
