The big lie of 5.6% unemployment (L)

Gallup will pay dearly for pointing this out.

There's no other way to say this. The official unemployment rate, which cruelly overlooks the suffering of the long-term and often permanently unemployed as well as the depressingly underemployed, amounts to a Big Lie.
Exactly! But try explaining this to a liberal and their head explodes.

Re: The big lie of 5.6% unemployment (L)

The media continually dwelt on the "real unemployment numbers" during the Bush years. They've done the same thing in GOP led States who were fairing much better economically than the rest of the nation. Yet, they refuse to hold Obama to this standard. We indeed have the "soft tyranny" that Alexis De Tocqueville warned us about. Watching the news report on the Obama economy is like watching a Stalin or Moa era propaganda film.

I would agree both parties use numbers and math to their advantage. But as Originalist posted, if the media and Democrats were judging Bush by the "real" unemployment numbers, then they should be doing the same for obama.

An article in the paper today highlighted the issue of the local food banks dilemma. Their numbers are rising significantly, and not decreasing. More and more people are seeking out the food banks, and most of them people who have never visited a food bank before.
