Democrats Are For American Interests W/ Keystone!

"Senate Democrats said Tuesday they’ll push amendments to legislation approving the Keystone XL pipeline requiring that it’s built with domestically produced steel and that the oil it carries is used in the U.S."

What a great idea, right-- actually I thought it would be a given that the pipeline to be built on American soil would be built using AMERICAN steel and that the oil transported by the pipeline would be used here in America as well.

If this is the new negotiating point, I'd hate to see what things looked like BEFORE the negotiations!

When will ALL the people in Washington get a clue?!

What this does is essentially kill the bill without the President having to veto it as he's repeatedly threatened to do.

They don't have "American" interests at heart, they have 2016 interests and beyond at heart.

FYI, I'm not for the Keystone deal, but not for the same reasons as obama and most Democrats.

Because Keystone is a Canadian company. They've already threatened to stop the project if Democrats force this.

3) What gives the Democrats the right to demand what products a private company uses in its construction?

Look, I'm not for this Keystone bill. The US Congress should not be passing a law to benefit a single, private business. If this bill was open to all oil companies, I would be more inclined to support it, but it isn't. However, I'm also not going to applaud Democrats for demanding and trying to dictate which products a private company uses in its construction. That's a stupid and incredibly bad precedent to set.

Well, all we have is JD complaining and making allegations. I've read nothing to support his claims.

I can understand a foreign company objecting to a government trying to force them to use a certain product in construction of their pipeline.

Again, Congress shouldn't be favoring one company in a bill at all. Especially a foreign company. Seriously. The US Congress is passing a bill to help a foreign country's private company build a pipeline through the US. smh

I'd suggest using an American company to build the US portion of the pipeline, but obama and Democrats would still be against it.
