I have worked with many democrats. Many do not like all of the democrat parties stands (some like less than half of them). But they feel like it is the lesser of two evils. A lot of people who vote democrat do so because at least Democrats seem to care (republicans if you want to win any election in the net fifty years this is something to work on).

The reason I am writing this is because I get why people vote Democrat (at least in my opinion).

True... but why? Imagine a Republican candidate who advocates terminating various welfare programs for the poor while suggesting that they turn strictly to charities... yet he doesn't give a dime to charity. lol So it stands to reason that if one believes that government has no responsibility towards the poor and that charity should step in... they will give more to charities.

And you're right. Democrats to care about helping people with everyone else's money. Their world view is that a society is responsible for the least of their own as a nation and a people. So, they're going to use tax dollars for those efforts.

So, none of what you pointed out is surprising to me.
