Was anybody a part of this great conference? Any great memories you'd like to share. It's so sad that it's all gone now.

Yep - - the first three I sang in - the next two after that I attended, then haven't gone since!

For the first one, 1976, I did a little of everything!! I had to schedule all the travel arrangements for the guest musicians/singers, make sure they were all picked up and transported at the right times, and a zillion other tasks that just came up, as it was the first experiment of its kind. I sang at the ones in 1976 and 1977. I have wonderful memories of NMMC!

Been on both sides of the fence... attendee and employee. (ha)

As a student, I spent many sleepless nights working on NMMC making copies, writing out music, etc. I was also Lanny's personal secretary for two years, so I learned the ins and outs of putting together a conference of that magnitude. But in between graduating from JCM and going back to work there, I got to attend as a "normal" person (if that makes sense). It really was a fabulous experience.

My husband and I were priviledged to attend several of the live recordings of the last few years that it was still together. Wonderful music. So sad that it is no more.

Sang in the first three ... yeah, among 15 thousand other choir members, but I still sang.

Nathan Faulkner and I hauled probably one million folding chairs from the Farm to FPC for the seminars.

I participated in three banquet skits that positively sucked because some of you folks reading this wanted to make them like big-budget Hollywood productions, when I kept insisting that people simply wanted to relax at those banquets and didn't want to think about "The Rapture" and other such "serious" stuff.

I said "we've got the best comic talent in the UPC here at JCM. Let's just make the banquet entertainment like a church Christmas banquet with an all-star cast."

But no, you guys wouldn't listen to me.

Oh. By the way, I didn't make any more after the first three.

I was there for most of the conferences back in the 80's and my last one was 1990. I enjoyed them alot more after I graduated and didn't have to work so hard.
There was so many talented musicians and singers involved in that conference. The UPC seemed it like it had all the talent back then.

It sure did (and still does) have alot of good musical talent!
In my opinion, some of the best gospel singing done today, is by good
apostolic singers.
