Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Certainly, Prax. Obviously, there were some that didn't quite have the understanding or James wouldn't have addressed the subject.
Yet, even with that teaching in James we still read I John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"

I thought it was interesting how the Amplified Bible, in James 2, uses the dreaded "O" word. 
(2:17) So also faith, if it does not have works ( deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).
(2:18) But someone will say [to you then], You [say you] have faith, and I have [good] works. Now you show me your [alleged] faith apart from any [good] works [if you can], and I by [good] works [ of obedience] will show you my faith.

Again nobody, not James or anyone else says "You can sin because after all, it's faith alone"

That wasn't my point. I was just thinking, out loud, that we show our good works as an inherent part of our faith, yet we still sin. That is all I was saying. So how much faith do we actually have? Or how much understanding?
