I Was Wrong!

Yeah, I know, you already knew that! Maybe so, but the thing is I did not.

Have you changed your beliefs on something you very adamantly were convinced of in days gone by? Wow! I know I have. It seems life has a way humbling a person. It could be theology or otherwise but it seems we are all on a journey that is shaped by our life experiences - including of course, our experience with the Lord Jesus.

Just the thought... Just knowing I am not what I will be in ten or twenty years is humbling to me. Not that I desire to be fluid in my beliefs or throw caution to the wind at all. But I know that even theologians and scholars are growing, learning and even changing beliefs on things throughout their lifetime.

Help me Lord to stay sober minded. In 2011 May I become humble knowing my weakness is great. May I refrain from judging my fellow man harshly. Amen.

You touched my heart with this very sweet and humble note of a very significant moment of insight.

I pray that this will always be my attitude as well.

God bless.

I am suspicious of people who never change. You can be happy knowing you have gained more of my trust today. (I know you were seriously concerned about that. )

Re: I Was Wrong!

The most valuable lessons are the ones we learn for ourselves. Our pastor would often say that the most overused words were I, me and mine. He was right! It's hard for me to be wrong. Even harder to admit it. I pray that I am more gracious about both.

You're right. All of us are continually learning, or we should be. Some people feel that it's a disgrace to admit that you were wrong in what you believed. I don't agree. I think it's more of a disgrace to believe you can't be wrong.

Smithy should get excited because in spite of some current disagreement in a thread or two, I like him alot and don't judge him as anything other than a brother.

Re: I Was Wrong!

We should finally learn to be taught of God as the scriptures prophesied that we would be in this day. That is one of the major functions of the Holy Ghost...the Divine Teacher.

God is love. Love must be primary in our lives. If it is, rather than knowledge, God will then lead us to truth. There is a difference in knowledge and truth. Don't get too shocked, but we should learn the difference.

Knowledge is corrupting the church. These kids come out of Bible College after having been sucking on the tree of knowledge and gorging themselves with ideas that become cemented in their hearts over time. Well, that's good. But it is evil too. That tree is both good and evil. Except love is primary, truth becomes darkened in time giving rise to evil. Except love is primary, one is never lead to living, vital truth...the ever living, glorified Word of God, he who is the Tree of Life.

To eat from the tree of life will give life where as the tree of knowledge will inflict death. There is a way to eat from the tree of life but one will forever be prevented to the way of the tree of life by the cherub who turns every which way with a flaming sword except they repent of eating from the tree of knowledge. The tree of knowledge is not all evil. It's good too. In fact, there is probably far more good in it than there is evil. Nevertheless, the least of its fruit with inflict death.

John said that you have no need of man to teach you but you have an unction within.

I Jo 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things

I Jo 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Of course we need teachers since that is one of the divine offices placed in the church by the Holy Ghost. Nevertheless, the first word out of the mouth of a teacher that is a lie will be detected and rejected by the inward witness while we are being taught of God.
