Kilgore @ Life: This is my last sermon ever???
Last night, my mom, kids and I were able to worship at Life Tabernacle which was celebrating 50 years of JK's pastorship this weekend. It was great!!!
The singing was warm and Southern sounding. I enjoyed listening to the Bishop speak before the preaching about his wife and family. Also his kids shared some great stories about Mama Kilgore.
Ronnie Guidroz gave one of the best messages about the Cross I've heard come from Pentecost. I had to hear most of it from the foyer because Aaron was restless. I understand Guidroz was the first preacher out of Life Tabernacle.
Jabo Green and his wife attended ... JG greeted the congregants and spoke glowingly of his pastor.
I was hoping to meet ChosenByOne, Sister Falla and Esther. However, the service finished late and the kids had school the next day ... so we left right away.
A couple of questions ...
1. Jim Junior ... said something along the lines that the Bishop made a "false proclamation" during the morning service ... something about him saying it was his last sermon ever. Can anyone confirm this?
2. Ronnie Guidroz ... stated that Peter's point of conversion was at the Cross and not Pentecost. Does anyone agree or disagree w/ this statement?

Yeah ... but his son, last night, said that Kilgore said it would be his last one at Life earlier that morning ... to which his son told the audience last night ... "there would be more" from his dad .. and went as far as calling it a "false proclamation". ....
Atleast that's what I understood.
Maybe Esther can clarify.

Can't confirm the first, but on the second. Yes I agree. Peter repented at the cross and his conversion was wrought there and then. He evidenced his conversion by obeying the Lords command by repentance ("He that believeth.."), then obedience ("...and is baptized..."). Conversion any where other than the Cross is no conversion at all!

He said he was going to quit preaching and start ministering to the people he meets everyday.
He wants to be a soul winner.

Neither which really surprised me because the Tenneys almost always preach the anniversary service.
