Start by playing only the first note of the chord with your left hand. In other words, if you are playing an F chord...play only the F not with your left hand. At first you will just use your left hand to keep a beat. Left hand kind of acts as a bass guitar. The simple way to play most Pentecostal choruses is a 1-4-1-6m-5-1 with F being a popular key.
F--------------------
Praise Him Praise Him
Bb------------------------
Praise Him in the morning
--------------------F
Praise Him in the noon time
--------------------Dm
Praise Him Praise Him
F ----------------------C-----------F
Praise Him when the sun goes down
As time goes on you can start adding 7th notes and walking your base a bit.
