One Christian's Response To Death Penalty

She said a person deserves to survive so they can share what they learn from their mistakes with others in similar situations. "It's about God. It's about Jesus," she said.

Sad story, but interesting perspective on a controversial subject.

Re: One Christian's Response To Death Penalty

I'm pro life. I'm against abortion and the death penalty. God and only God has the right to give life or to take life. I'm not opposed to just cause wars or for believers to serve in the military. However, I do wish that those guilty of heinous crimes would be shipped to the Arctic Circle and made to work hard days, every day 5 days a week, with little to no privileges and comforts. Make prison life miserable.

Re: One Christian's Response To Death Penalty

God ordained the death penalty for certain crimes. To be opposed to 'the death penalty' itself is to be opposed to God's ways, God's righteousness, God's kingdom. As such, a Christian, by definition, cannot take such a position.

As to the corruption in our modern 'justice system', that is another subject.

There is no death penalty under Grace, except the one that Jesus paid.

If there was a case to argue the validity of the death penalty, this would be that case. Still, I agree with the victim's wife and with you in this situation.

Re: One Christian's Response To Death Penalty

I oppose abortion and the death penalty.
Which seems to be consistent, to me.

Re: One Christian's Response To Death Penalty

There is room for many different opinions on the death penalty.

However, I would say this. If the STATE has executed a single innocent person... that alone is grounds to oppose and prohibit the death penalty.
