THE LAW OF the FIRSTBORN

Is it applicable today?

If yes: HOW?

If no: WHY NOT?

Re: THE LAW OF the FIRSTBORN

Perhaps we should be given a complete knowledge on what the "law of the firstborn" is and exactly what it entails.

Re: THE LAW OF the FIRSTBORN

One aspect is that it's to be applied spiritually, in that the we're all in Christ, the firstborn from the dead!

Re: THE LAW OF the FIRSTBORN

I either just read something or heard a message preached recently on the subject.
Basically the law of the first born is quit the opposite from what we have been led to believe. That being the first born in OT times received then inheritance and blessing over the rest of his siblings.
The law of the first born meant that in receiving these blessings he became responsible for the younger counterparts in the family. It was his job to protect, care for and make sure the family was taken care of.

Would you say, then, that the Law of the Firstborn has been fulfilled?

Re: THE LAW OF the FIRSTBORN

I would say where does it say God gave the "law of the firstborn" I see where it was a cultural thing amongst the Jews and was obviously followed by them but nowhere do I see God specifically saying that the firstborn receives these things or has these responsibilities....

I could be wrong...

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but when it came to inheritances it was Firstborn received 50% of all and the rest was divided amongst the other siblings...

So Cain was born first, but Abel's offering was accepted. Would that have made Abel the "firstborn" had he lived?

All I can say right now is the light is the the strongest where it is placed: if it's on top of a hill, it is
strongest there. However, we may see the light a great distance away, and it will seem to get
lighter/stronger as we draw nearer: but it's the same light, in its same power.

I believe the word of God is the same way: and anyone who sees the light will swear by it: although
we may all be different distances away. We will all swear by the light we have. And so it is with
God's Laws: we see the Law of the Firstborn lost in Cain and Abel because of murder; but perhaps found
again in Seth, when "...men began to call upon the NAME of the Lord."
