Saul - Apostle Paul had a devil?

I had someone say that Apostle Paul, former Saul, had a devil and was a horrible man.

I believe he was simply acting on his loyalty to the Law of Moses in not accepting the new Christian faith - until - he met up with God on the road to Damascus.

Yes, he was a horrible man to the Christians, but I believe God used his fervency to advance the Kingdom of God. I believe that God saw an instrument he could use for His glory.

How could someone with a devil do a 180 simply by hearing, "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?"

He responds - "Who are you Lord?"

"I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:"

In a 180, Saul says, "Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?"

JMO, but on reading this account, I don't put Saul in the category of the Pharisees seeking self-importance, greed and power nor do I view him as devil-possessed.

Opinions?

*bump*

Anyone? I was kind of startled when this person claimed that Saul was devil possessed. Never heard that before, and the Bible never claims he was. At least I didn't see it written anywhere.

Non biblical. The devil and his crew get way more credit than they deserve.

I sometimes deal with people who believe and teach that Paul was a usurper. That the Apostle Paul actually created his own religion off of what Jesus taught. That all of Paul's epistles are Antichrist. But I must say that hearing Paul was demon possessed is a new one on me.

Did you get that from William Price?

No, not from Wm. Price. LOL! But, thanks for the input. I don't believe I have ever heard that Paul was a usurper either.

I was corrected in front of a group of people saying I was wrong by not agreeing he was of the devil. Because the man is about 15 years older than me (I think), I didn't want to exacerbate the conversation by asking where in the Bible did it say that and simply let the statement stand.

I've always been pretty proud of Paul, so inside I was feeling and thinking - NO WAY, JOSIE. LOL!

Now hold on there a minute! You exacerbate the conversation by asking QUESTIONS? Sister you go back there and tell those jokers to PROVE it!

Paul was demon possessed? Seriously?

Where? Where does it make the statement that Paul had a devil, was filled with devils, or had a devil cast out of him?

Sister, sister, don't ever miss the opportunity to help someone climb out of the pit, in which they were led by some individual who keeps his eyes closed tight.

I love the example the Paul gave us of how to follow Christ. He was completely sold out. He taught about LOVE in all of his epistles. The majority of the scriptures I memorize are either from Jesus or Paul.

BTW, I really like the message by James Kilgore on humility on the POA BOTT youtube. I'm not a fan of loud preaching but when the message is excellent I can overlook it(usually I stop watching.) Im going back to watch it again and take notes.

Pressing On, whoever that guy is, he's off his rocker. Don't let it bother you.

Wow... I've heard a lot of things attributed to the "thorn in the flesh" but never nonsense such as this! I agree with Bro. Benicasa... a polite pointed question would have been perfect in this situation to try to help see where these people got their "ideology" from...

Thank you, Brother. If I gave you the full details, you may tell me I did the right thing. I can't go into the sordid details of that on a public forum, you understand.

I will get my chance to speak about this to him later. He said, in front of everyone, "we can discuss this another time". Anyway, the situation didn't warrant me going on with it as it would have appeared to be an argument.

The way I was looking at it, I was outnumbered by the men and none of them challenged him, so I didn't feel I should press it further. I can be submissive like that.

I will argue with him about it later in a one on one. You can count on that because he was dissing Paul and I can't let that stand.

In my experience, I see people more comfortable taking a negative view of God and His Word than seeing the beautiful power in the lessons. It can be challenging and also kind of depressing.

For example, we were talking about how God deals with us. One person was commenting about how God... let's see, how did he described it? "whopped up" on him for something he did wrong.

I said, "I would be devastated if God spoke to me that way and I don't believe He actually spoke to you that way. I've made plenty of mistakes and He has shown me my wrong by His Word. It came to me so gentle, I wanted to repent and do right. It doesn't make sense to me that God would 'whoop up' on a person."

But he insisted and I still don't believe it.

Just venting... I guess I'm kind of down today.
