This is why Congress needs to pass a fair, flat tax. Of course, libs would still whine about it. Ironically most of the libs who would use these points to blast the rich likely use a few points themselves as well.

The GOP was willing to go to war and see over a million people killed for corporate welfare. The party came into being mainly from the support of bitter Whigs who had seen their privilege slip away.

No need for an income tax of any kind, progressive, flat, or "fair".

THIS Congress doesn't need to do anything except either start following the constitution, resign, or go to prison for treason. Once that's been done THEN we can start discussing how much we want the gov't to steal from our neighbors.

I don't mind "class envy" articles but they should accurately reflect what is really on a tax return. My experience is that even the standard deduction for dependents phases out over a certain income level and that imaginary "tax credit per child" is long gone. Ditto deductions for college expenses, and all of the other "welfare programs" that the rest of us pay for you. Those things get phased out early.

I'm all for a fair tax. Every single deduction that middle income people enjoy should be applied to people at all incomes. I would be happy with the above standard deduction, tax credit per child, and deduction for college expenses. Seems fair to me. That's like an extra $6 or $7K back in my pocket. I'll stick that in one of those gold vending machines and buy gold with it LOL

The FairTax makes so much sense that it will never happen.
IRS is too entrenched.
Unless some of the lawsuits currently pending show it for the monster that it is.
