The Pope on salvation for atheists

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...n-8810062.html

“You ask me if the God of the Christians forgives those who don’t believe and who don’t seek the faith. I start by saying – and this is the fundamental thing – that God’s mercy has no limits if you go to him with a sincere and contrite heart. The issue for those who do not believe in God is to obey their conscience."

I care what the pope says about as much as i care about the bowel movements of some random wild animal walking around in a south american jungle.

why? why do i care what someone as lost as two boys kissing says about how people who dont believe there is a god can in fact come into union with the non-existant diety?

I have a dog. I do not ask my dog his opinion on intersteller human/dog travel.

I assumed that since we're on an "Apostolic" forum, there would be slightly more than indifference for lost souls. Did I assume wrong?

I find it amusing that catholic church didn't believe non catholic Christians could be saved and now believe Muslims and atheists can be saved. Pfffft.
