350 People Baptized In Jesus Name

This weekend was one of our quarterly baptismal services where we leave our normal schedule of going through books of the bible verse by verse and chapter by chapter and the sermon is about baptism followed by baptisms. (we don't have a baptistry at our church so a portable tank is brought in for baptisms)

Today the pastor stated that in the 4 years our church has been in existence a total of about 350 people have been baptized in Jesus name.

This weekend was one of our quarterly Friday night Praise & Worship services that started the ball rolling with a baptismal service at the conclusion. 10 people were baptized then.

This morning at the 9 am service 4 more were baptized and my wife just got home from the 11 am service and said about 7 people were baptized at it.

We have one more service to go today (6pm) which I think is our largest and
certainly the one with the youngest demographic (lots of college kids). it wiill be interesting to see how many are baptized then. Right now the total for this weekend is about 20.

The last time we did a Praise & Worship Friday and Baptism weekend we baptized a total of 43 people.

I will update with a total after tonight and try to remember down the road when the baptism sermon comes on up our website to post a link in case anybody wants to watch it. The podcast of the sermon should be up on itunes probably tomorrow. (you could search by the pastor's name "Corey Trimble" or the church name "The Experience Community".

EDIT UPDATE - TOTAL COUNT FOR FOLKS BAPTIZED THIS WEEKEND IS 41

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: 350 People Baptized In Jesus Name

I forgot to mention that my wife told me that a young woman baptized at the 11 am service was at church as a result of our BAR ministry which is an outreach where a group of church folks go out to our town square and set up to serve people leaving the bars and nightclubs free coffee and hot dogs to help sober them up before they drive. It also is an opener to talk to folks. Many of them have a void in their life and that is why they are at a bar in the first place. This young woman was at church with her mother so really that outreach resulted in two people coming to church.

Great report! I admit, I'm not a fan of monthly / quarterly "baptism Sundays" but I'm happy anytime someone is baptized.

If somebody wanted to be baptized sooner we would certainly do it. Remember while we believe everybody should be baptized in Jesus name we don't believe they are not going to heaven if they had not done it yet and die.

It is a bit ironic that in four years we have baptized more people in Jesus name than most traditional Pentecostal churches will probably baptize in a quarter century but we will get slammed because we didn't state that peoples salvation was conditional, based on them doing it.

Ya, there are those who will literally say that if someone is climbing INTO the tank and falls and hits their head and dies they will be lost because they have not yet been baptized. Those are the same people that will baptize one or two a YEAR if their lucky. Of course they are also the same ones who will shield themselves from any criticism by saying how only Noah and his family were saved. . . .
