Gov. Rick Perry Betrays U.S. Workers

http://occupydemocrats.com/gov-rick-...american-bill/

Taken from the article:

Given how rare it is to get bipartisan support for any bill proposed in today’s toxic legislative climate, and the fact that this bill makes economic sense and will help keep tax revenue and corporate profits here in Texas and America, it is absolutely unconscionable that Gov. Perry would go against the wishes of his own constituents, legislators, and the American people at large, in order to appease the bottom lines of the multinational corporations that line his campaign coffers.

This proves, once again, that the modern-day GOP is a wholly owned subsidiary of corporate multinationals, voting against the best interests of the American people on each and every piece of legislation.

The Texas AFL-CIO released a statement after today’s veto:

“Gov. Perry by his veto has undercut the creation and preservation of manufacturing jobs in Texas and the U.S.” [Texas AFL-CIO President Becky] Moeller said. “These jobs are critical to our economic success. Despite the governor’s grandstanding in California and Illinois and his rhetoric about jobs, the veto of HB 535 reveals a painful truth: this Governor won’t stand up for American jobs or Texas workers.”

“We again thank the Legislature for its hard work and the outstanding advances on ‘Buy America’ issues in this session.”

So how about that? I thought Texas was a bastion for business?

HB 535 Bill Text:

http://votesmart.org/static/billtext/44075.pdf

Veto Statement from Governor Perry:

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE EIGHTY-THIRD TEXAS LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION:

Pursuant to Article IV, Section 14 of the Texas Constitution, I, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, do hereby disapprove and veto House Bill No. 535 of the 83rd Texas Legislature, Regular Session, due to the following objections:

House Bill 535 requires state agencies, when purchasing goods, to give preference to goods "manufactured" in Texas. Current law already requires state agencies to give preference to goods produced and grown in Texas. While I support and encourage our agencies to buy goods from Texas businesses, this bill simply does not change current law.

Since you remain gathered in regular session and continue to conduct formal business, I am delivering this disapproval message directly to you along with the official enrolled copy of the bill.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have signed my name officially and caused the Seal of the State to be affixed hereto at Austin, this 25th day of May, 2013.

RICK PERRY
Governor of Texas

Attested by:
JOHN STEEN
Secretary of State

Re: Gov. Rick Perry Betrays U.S. Workers

Thanks PO I knew there had to be a reasonable reason.

Second in following that link I discovered had misinformed Occupy Democrats really are.

Particularly in regards to gun control. Really they think it was for mentally handicapped to be able to have a gun? How do they know who is mentally handicapped? Seems to me it might be the de ocratic party that wants to disarm America. If they knew their history they would know first register your gun so they know where to come and get your guns. EVERY DICTATOR first took your guns. hELLO

Anyone that can't see BO would love to be a dictator is blind in one eye and can't see out the other.

Really wish I was wrong on this one but the evidence is mounting more and more.

Ha! OccupyDemocrats and the AFL-CIO probably didn't even read the bill. Thanks, PO, for bringing facts to trump the left's fiction.

Sounds like he told the legislature to quit wasting time on superfluous garbage.
