Wireless router help

Currently using a belkin g router. Can't connect to streaming at other parts of house. Don't want to move setup. Going to buy an "N" router to replace this old "G".

Any suggestions??? I already know what Elder Epley would suggest. LOL

Netgear. I set one up at church earlier this year, and also have one at home.

Any modern "N" router will work. I have a Netgear myself but D-Links are fine as well. At the moment many of the Linksys ones require that you actually sign up with the, (Cisco) in order to access the internal settings -with is ludicrous. Also, try to make sure it is dual band.

"N" and "G" may not make that much of a difference.

Placement must be centralized and not upstairs.

Different models have different broadcast power. Some just broadcast further than others

What's in between the Router and the wireless device? Electrical devices can hinder the radio signals.

A possible solution is to use repeaters...two routers or more that repeat the signal.

So if you do buy one router, look for broadcast distance

BTW I use mostly NETGEAR. I have two at church..well 3 actually

They are all connected with a network cable together so I can extend the wireless signal from the fellowship hall to the sanctuary plus a third non wireless router in the church office connecting the printer to the network

Although I mentioned getting dual band router, for pure range you want to stay away from the 5 gh band since the higher bands do not travel through obstructions nearly as well as the lower ones. This is why AM signals tend to go MUCH farther than FM.
