US withdrawing all military from Iraq
You know, if I didn't know better I'd think Obama was running for re-election...
Uhm, errr, I just remembered, he is running for re-election.
So all troops currently in Iraq will be coming home by the end of the year, says Obama. Of course, there's no connection between this announcement and his campaign for re-election. None at all. 
Politics aside, I'm glad the troops are coming home. It's about time. In fact, while we're at it, let's just bring all our troops home from the Middle East. There's no reason for the US to sacrifice its brave men and women for a people who, in general, hate our guts. Let the Iraqis and Afghanis take care of themselves, right? Democracy is about letting people decide what they want for themselves, not about the US telling them what they need.
The billions being wasted on those people are better spent here at home.

Yep... I got the CNN Breaking News email and immediately thought... Uh huh... it's an election year.
Whatever happened to that 16 month timetable? But all of a sudden he's gonna get'er done.
But... I am happy it's (on paper) going to get done although it doesn't buy any support from me though. It's all too politically timed for me.

When I saw this on Fox News' website, my first reaction was "OMG, say what???" NO!!! We gotta stay there." Well, that's the old traditional politics speaking such nonsense.
Bring them back home so they can focus on any home-grown terror plans, yet still be home with family too...
And I would agree. Obama's timing on this is obviously in line with his hopes of being re-elected...

Actually, the pull-out date was part of an agreement negotiated in 2008 between the US and the Iraqi government. The agreement was not able to be re-negotiated, so they are just going by the old agreement.
I mean, it is definitely going to help him get re-elected, and I am sure he is aware of that. But he is not using the troop pull-out as a political weapon. He is just going off what we already agreed to.

Right. The way I understand it, the current Iraqi government refused to renegotiate. This shows weakness on the part of the Obama Administration.

Good. Mission Accomplished again. We removed SH from power: Mission Accomplished. We defeated the insurgents: Mission Accomplished. We rebuilt Iraq, established free elections and Iraq now has a functional democracy: Mission Accomplished.

EXACTLY!
You know, I think it is odd that people were MOST critical of Obama for his lack of international experience.
Yet he has steered America, our image and interests in the right direction, internationally.
He's not getting enough credit for that-- but no President ever gets enough credit for anything when the economy is not as good as it could be.
He walked into a terrible financial hurricane, but it's still raining. Who better to take the blame than the current President?
