Yesterday at Church, an older couple asked me about this. I was glad they had been searching, and was excited about their find.
We can grow up in Church never knowing about this kind of thing. I believe this does pose a challenge to the Book of Luke, as he appears to be the only Gentile author of any Biblical Books, and, he never knew Jesus personally. He is also the apparent author of Acts.
I also recently viewed the film, "Hiding and Seeking", and was surprised to learn that devout/extremist Jews would like to see annihilation of the Gentiles. The link below shows part of this film;
Not to worry too much, the Catholics have Luke listed as one of the original Apostles! Saw a statue that was to depict Luke, the physician, outside of a Catholic hospital in Pueblo, CO. The inscription: The Apostle Luke.
Also, please note that it was not entirely uncommon for Jews of that time to have Gentile names (Rabbi Sha'ul took the name of Paul). So, just because Luke has a Gentile name does not necessarily mean he was not a Jew.

I did notice when I was researching this that the Catholics still consider Luke an original Apostle. But evidence seems pretty overwhelming that he wasn't.
What do you think about the Jews wanting to rid the World of Gentiles?

The Catholic Encyclopedia says Luke was not an Apostle.
It is worthy of note that, in the three places where [Luke] is mentioned in the Epistles (Colossians 4:14; Philemon 24; 2 Timothy 4:11) he is named with St. Mark (cf. Colossians 4:10), the other Evangelist who was not an Apostle (Plummer), . . .

So you can't be an apostle if you weren't a disciple of Jesus?

There are "The Twelve Apostles", who were Jesus's disciples, but others are mentioned as apostles, too. Barnabas, Andronicus, Junia, e.g.
Interestingly, the early church, for a while, seemed to think twelve was a good number of apostles to have, so the replaced Judas with Matthias. Or, rather, the Lord chose him by making the lot fall to him, and not to the other candidate ("Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus"). It appears that the losing candidate did not say "best two out of three?".

That they call him an Apostle does not mean they believe he was one of the original 12. Paul is also called an Apostle and was not one of the orginal
Luke, it is believed, was much like his father a jedi...wrong luke
Luke, it is believed, got his information from another eyewitness source or source document.

There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
Anyone who is Born Again into the Kingdom of God is no longer gentile, but is grafted into the Jewish Olive Tree that is God's People. As to those branches who were cut off wanting those who were grafted in annihilated, they better find something with some roots quickly. I suggest the Tree from which they were originally cut.
