Black Apostolic Hair blog touts Stoneking and HMH

A quote from a blog called Black Apostolic Hair ....

Source: http://kendrathaler-hair.blogspot.co...a-is-back.html

I am hoping this can become a forum of positive help and refuge. It is NOT easy being a black apostolic concerning our hair. Trust me, I have had my share of days where I just cried because I felt that my hair looked so different and so short. But thank GOD for a revelation and thank GOD for understanding My hair is my glory! I have authority! I have the power of angels! I have clout with God! Hallelujah!!

"For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1 Corinthians 13:9-12)

We can only go as far as revelation will take us. So we have a LONG way to God! Heaven is the limit girls!

Its nice to be back

Wow folks, these are just a FEW of the many emails, comments, etc that I recieved regarding this blog! I am seriously blown away by the amount of response I have gotten! God bless you! So glad to be back!!

"I really love and appreciate your website. Just recently I attended a conference where Bro. Lee Stoneking was speaking. His message was coming from 1 Cor. 11:5 and he was speaking about how the woman's uncut hair being their glory - I was not raised in Pentecost/Apostolic; however, about three years ago the Lord led me to leave my former church which was is a prodominately black apostolic church which I was a part of for over fifteen years. I had never receive such teaching - and it just left me wondering why the black apostolic churches are not teaching this. I had to call my sister because she's been apostolic/pentecost longer than I have - but she's never receive the teaching. I currently wear my hair naturally and have done so off and on for years. I felt bad when Bro. Stoneking was teaching because I recall cutting my hair - but this was never taught in my former church. Then it also leaving me wondering why it is not being taught in the african/black churches. I'm just thanking and praising God for loving me enough to place me with a body of believer preaching and teaching the truth."...

What's interesting to me is that this is seen as an "additional" revelation ... not taught in other Apostolic churches ... beyond what has been taught on uncut hair tradtionally.

And in the case of her fan mail ... needs to be also taught in African-American Apostolic churches.

Re: Black Apostolic Hair blog touts Stoneking and

In the Cincinnati area where I live there are several Apostolic or OP churches. Some are "black" and some are "white." I'm not saying that to be racist but that's just the way they are. I have been in several of the "black" churches and preached in 3 (I think) of them (one PAW, one CoJCPF and one independent). This was back in the nineteen fifties, sixties, and seventies so I don't have experience with those churches now in 2010. I did preach in a white Apostolic Church back in August but that was the first time I've preached in an Apostolic church for many years.

What I noticed in the black and white churches was this.
The men in black churches had facial hair and "Afro" hair styles.
The women in black churches had short hair and some wore jewelry (ear rings, etc.)
Men in some white churches had facial hair.
Women in white churches kept their hair long enough to fix it into some kind of a "Pentecostal" style but short enough to manage.

It has been my observation that hair length was not an issue in black Apostolic Churches or with African American women visiting or attending white Apostolic Churches.

In my humble adventures, I've noticed more of a tolerance for peoples personal convictions.

In most African-American church the length of the hair is not the issue, since most of the females tend to wear a hat or prayer cloth as a covering. That is a whole other issue.

I think this is a fair assessment of many PAW and COOLJC today which took a different trajectory than the UPCI. In more conservative churches however some have encountered uncut doctrine.

In NY for example, many of the Jamaican brethren held to many of the UPCI standards. This I believe is the influence of many white UPCI missionaries, like the Trouts, that evangelized the islands.

In other news, some of the younger Trouts seem to have had a change of mind on such matters.

Hard to believe people think that something they can DO or NOT DO will award them power with God when in fact what CHRIST DID ON THE CROSS is the ONLY thing that grants such a thing. Slowly the cross is being eroded away from certain groups.

Amen.

That was the premise of "Christianity Without The Cross" but that's another story and another subject.
