Verichips are implanted in the fatty part of the back of the left arm, and NOT on the right hands or foreheads as John specified in Revelation 13:6. So, either this is NOT the famed “666–Mark of the Beast,” or, if it is, John sure did not understand human anatomy. The bottom line is, this is no more “The Mark” than Social Security numbers or product barcodes were back when they were asserted as such by Dispensational teachers.

To understand what this mark is, you must first understand that the 666 marking is a spiritual identification. You can find this type marking in the Jewish “Shema” (See Deuteronomy 6:4-9). Jesus said that the Shema’s proclamation of there being only “One God,” is the “greatest commandment” in the Bible (See Mark 12:28-29). In the verses of Deuteronomy 6 we find it says to “bind” this great truth on a believer’s forehead and hand as a “sign.” The word “sign” here can also be rendered “mark.” Through the ages Jews have literally done this with a leather strap on their left arm and a leather box containing scriptures on their forehead, which is known as a “phylactery.” Though they have done this literally, the command carries a deeper meaning than a leather strap and box; it speaks of keeping this “One God” truth close in all your doings (hand) and in all your thoughts (forehead). The Strong’s Concordance shows this when it defines “bind” as: “to league in love, to conspire, to join together.” This is what this command says to do with this great truth; league with love to the One God of the universe, and to conspire (act or work together) to be joined to Him in all your ways. It is also what Jesus says in the continuance of His first commandment in Mark 12: “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with ALL THY MIND, and with ALL THY STRENGTH: this is the first commandment” (Mark 12:30).

Seeing the similarities between the “mark” found in Deuteronomy 6 and the “mark” found in Revelation 13 is unavoidable. Also, Revelation 3:12, 7:3, and 14:1, all show the righteous in Christ receiving a marking of the Father’s name in their foreheads. How did they overcome all the persecution to receive this? Through their commitment to the One true God shown through what they did (hands) and through what they thought (foreheads). Remember, Jesus said, “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” In the same chapter He said, “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:22, 32). These markings illuminate the marked man for blessing (Father’s Mark), which is derived from that man’s righteous thoughts and actions, and the marked man for the curse (Beast-nature), which comes from that man’s unrighteous thoughts and actions. To be consistent, if a person teaches that the 666 mark is a literal tattoo or computer chip; they should teach the same about the marking of the Father’s name. To date I have not found any who do this, which is inconsistent and only leads to more bad exegesis of Scripture.

The judgment foretold in Revelation 13 is for unrighteous persons who are not Born Again. This leaves them unregenerated in their thoughts and in their actions. As a result they remain in their rebellious beast-like nature. This type person does not acknowledge the One True God of Deuteronomy 6:4, and instead lives in rebellion against Him and His ways. This is what Paul was referring to when he wrote: “For to be carnally minded is death [cursed beast-nature]; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace [blessed Christlike nature]. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:6-8). In this verse Paul explains that a carnal mind (forehead) produces carnal actions (hand). Such traits cause enmity (division) with God, and thereby mark such a man for judgment. This enmity is “antichrist.” But the cure for this is the “anti-antichrist” verse found in the 6th book, 6th chapter, and 6th verse of the New Testament. “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin” (Romans 6:6). This passage describes a new man who no longer is marked with a beast-nature, but is instead marked with a new Christ-nature.

When you add these together they equal 666.

John showed that his prophecies in Revelation were expected to be fulfilled in the lifetime of those living during the 30-70 AD generation of Jesus Christ. To see this first understand that John’s writing of Revelation was simply his penning a detailed account of Jesus’ Mount Olivet Discourse. (See Matt 24, Mark 13, Luke 21) From this understanding you can see that Revelation deals mostly with the 70 AD destruction of Jerusalem and her rebellious people. This destruction came against those who rejected the New Covenant of Jesus Christ…i.e. they rejected the New Covenant of the One true God. Those who accepted the New Covenant did so with threat of financial ruin, physical persecution, and possible death. See, the apostate Jewish leadership of Jesus’ day made an edict that if you became a follower of the Nazarene, Jesus, you lost your place in the synagogue. (See John 9:18-34, 12:42, 16:2, Luke 6:22, Acts 4:18, 5:40) Losing your favorite pew was not what was at stake here; what it meant was that you became a non-Jewish member of your society, and as such you lost your job, money, land, house, societal standing, and Jewish family. So to take a stand with those who stood against Jesus was to remain in your unregenerated beast-like nature; but to receive the “born again” experience and become a “new creature in Christ” caused you to receive abandonment from all you once were, which meant, as a Jew, you were no longer welcome in the market place, Temple area, Synagogue service, or in your home. This is the price Jesus said it cost to be one of His followers: “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Hopefully you noticed that all of these markings already happened over 2,000 years ago, and because so, are not for our time, or for one in the future. If someday a human numbering system would come along that opposes the sacred things of God, I would opt out of it. But this would not be the one marking mentioned in Revelation 13 since that is now a past reality. What remains current though are the biblical truths of the One true God of the Universe. We must still live out this truth in our everyday actions and thoughts, for we are called to love Him with “all our minds” and “all our strength.” (See Mark 12:30) This will always be an everyday reality to the true believers of Jesus Christ, and an identifying mark for those who are in His Kingdom!

The fact remains that the US is relying more and more on the biochip - all permanent residents have to be routinely fingerprinted and their fingerprints are scanned against their identity at every "port of entry" aka international airports to enter the country.
