Is obediance to the word of God considered "works"?

I will have to think about this.

When we work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.. it would certainly include obediance to His Word.

I guess its settled... Faith without works is dead... without works we have dead faith... so if we are saved we will have works.

No works = unsaved
Works = saved.

Obedience to the word can be considered a work BUT the way Paul uses the word it was in connection to seeking to be justified by the works of the Law of Moses

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

I agree. Definitions of words mean everything.

Re: obediance/work

We will be judged by our works.

We are ordained to DO good works.

8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Eph. 2:8-10

I agree with the other brothers. When Paul seems to be speaking against works it is usually in the context of the Old Covenant.

Re: obedience/work

I do not think it is a work to obey the Word.

Thanks for being the first to use the bible.

31Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

You don't have the Holy Ghost given without obedience.

Over the years I have seen an exhaustive trend for people to generously classify commands as works. Then they condem works as acts of trying to earn salvation. Then they toss the works away entirely.

I suspect the apostles would not so called if they sat down and did nothing.
