What are you wearing for Easter?

What are you wearing for Easter?

I remember as a kid of 5 or 6 years of age, my Mom dressing me in a white suit for Easter. My hair was combed carefully and my face washed. She wanted me to look my very best for Easter morning Sunday School and Church. I wasn’t all that impressed. As a matter of fact by the time we were headed home my little suit was dirty from all the actions a little boy takes just doing his routine. I saw a picture of me in that suit and laughed about that day and how upset my mother was with me.

My daughter’s are all geared up to go get something nice for Easter. I really have no problem with us looking our best.

Perhaps our best would be to dress like Jesus did the night of His arrest. He and His disciples made their way to the upper room to observe the Passover. Jesus knew what lay ahead. The path would not be an easy one. He wanted to teach a lasting lesson, give one of His greatest examples to these men that would soon see the trauma, anguish and confusion of the coming days. As they fussed back and forth about what place they would have in His kingdom, Jesus went to the closet and took the servants garment and replace his cloths with it. He found a towel and a basin. Then He approached his men from the position of servant rather then that of the King they were expecting. Maybe the true garments of Royalty or those of the servant. For Jesus did say that greatest in His Kingdom would be the servant of all.

What should we wear for Easter and the other 364 days of the year?

Quote:
1 Pet 5:5 - 11 (KJV)
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Quote:
John 13:1 - 17 (KJV)

1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;
3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

I really like this! And it's very true!!

I'll never forget a message Sis. Freeman spoke a number years ago on the issue of Servanthood. It was excellent and has stayed with me through the years.

If we put on the garment (attitude) of servanthood then we're not going to get upset a whole lot because servants have few rights and don't expect a whole lot as far as privilege goes. I've mentioned this to people a lot when they start to complain about not being recognized or getting the kudos that they think they deserve.

Humility and servanthood go together like hand and glove.

I'm not wearing anything new for Easter, but the garment of servanthood is one I wear fairly comfortably. It never wears out. It's rather plain, not very fancy at all but you can't be a Royal without this garment being part of your wardrobe!

If you would be great, SERVE!

I'm hoping to go in a pair of jeans, wearing my ludciris energy drink ball hat. Debating on wearing the gangsta jerseey I got from Steve and Berry's... I'll wear my shades... Don't know what precious metal I'll put in the grill...

If I can't do that, I'll probably wear whatever my wife irons for me..
