George W Bush - HIGH Approval Ratings

We hear a lot about W's low approval ratings. Him an HWB also had the highest aproval rating since WWII. Here is an interesting chart from Wall Street Journal.

Nixon and Truman had lower approvals than W while Carter managed to dip equally low without a war to go wrong.

Re: George W Bush - HIGH Approval Ratings

So Truman and Nixon sunk the lowest on the chart, then Bush, then Carter.

I can't believe Bush would be lower than Carter.

Carter had the Iran hostage crisis and when we tried militarily to rescue them the attempt was botched.

True. But it was far frome a large scale military venture that always tries and holds people's emotions in check.

Did you notice when he took the oath Obama stopped at the word "execute?" He said, "I shall execute," then stopped.

Chief Justice Roberts had to repeat the part that the new President had left off.

From Reuter's coverage:

ROBERTS: I, Barack Hussein Obama…

OBAMA: I, Barack…

ROBERTS: … do solemnly swear…

OBAMA: I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear…

ROBERTS: … that I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully…

OBAMA: … that I will execute

ROBERTS: … faithfully the office of president of the United States…

OBAMA: … the office of president of the United States faithfully…

ROBERTS: … and will to the best of my ability…

OBAMA: … and will to the best of my ability…

ROBERTS: … preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

OBAMA: … preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

ROBERTS: So help you God?

OBAMA: So help me God.
