The Project for Excellence in Journalism did a study on media coverage of the candidates in this election. Barak Obama has received 36% negative media coverage, McCain received 52%, Palin a whopping 69%.
Not a surprise to most people, but at least its hard evidence to point out the obvious. Too bad that journalism has abdicated its role of being the disseminators of information, reporting the facts, into ideologues withan agenda to influence people and their perceptions.

Gov. Palin has brought much (if not most) of the negative spotlight on herself.
Non sequitor.
Where's the fairness in the media coverage? That's the issue. Look at the LA Times, they will not release this potentially damaging video to Obama. If it was a damaging video of Mac or Palin you can bet it would get released.
And Palin has not brought anything on herself. She's become the object of ridicule b/c she's a threat to the elitists. Where was the ridicule for Obama when he said he had traveled to 57 states? Where was the ridicule of Biden when he talked in the debate about going and talking to folks at a restaurant in his hometown that has been closed for 20 years? You are so blindly partisan you can't admit the truth: the media is in the tank for Obama and their objectivity is severely compromised.

I am not blindly partisan.
Sen. Obama has been in the news for a very long time, he has taken his lumps and when he messes up (unless it's huge), it's not really news any more.
I an remember making the comment last year that "Sen. Obama can't take a dump without the media analyzing it."
That was true last year. Sen. Obama has endured a lot of scrutiny.
When Sen. McCain went negative on his attack, it backfired. People in and out of the media are fed up with the negative. Now Sen. McCain is the victim-- cry me a river!
He is the victim of his own failed political machinery.
When Gov. Palin did those interviews with Gibson and Couric, no one made her sound ignorant and unprepared. She did that all on her own.
Maybe you are so blindly partisan that you can't realize that. Gov. Palin is a novice when it comes to the big leagues. Novices self destruct and that is what she started to do.

The FACTS are the FACTS. The CEJ analyzed the media coverage and determined that Obama is getting 2/3 neutral to positive coverage and only 1/3 negative to Mac's more than half negative and Palin's 2/3 negative. Obfuscate all you want with your perceptions of fairness in journalism, but the FACTS are the FACTS.

She's a novice because she doesn't fit in with the East Coast media elite? Because she fumbled a couple of questions? Liberals naturally tend to think of themselves as smarter than everyone else so when someone they are ideologically opposed to has a couple of bad moments before the camera they exploit it. But both Obama and Biden have had thier moments too and they do not get even close to the scrutiny as Palin does. The media bias is there. Its proven. You can excuse it all you want, but it doesn't change the truth.
I wouldn't say being the Governor of Alaska would make her a novice. I would say having an 80% plus approval rating from her constituents is an accomplishment a novice could not achieve. I don't think a novice could take on the political machine on her state and remove the corruption and crminal activity going on there even sending folks to jail. A novice could not stand up to a huge oil corporation and influence them to give back some of their record profits to he people of Alaska.
Was she not well versed in how the national media works and was she inexperienced in dealing with questions she never had been asked before? Sure. But does that make her unqualified to be VP? If all of her executive accomplishments were not enough to qualify her to be VP, then Obama should not be given even any attention to be President.
I'll take a successful businesswoman, mayor and Governor who is pro-life, pro-business, pro-military, pro-tax cuts, pro-family, pro-drilling, pro-gun, pro-conservative judges, pro-Israel, anti-gay rights, anti-socialism any day over a Harvard Law student, community organizer, state senator, US senator who is pro-abortion, pro-taxes, pro-Palestinian, pro-cuts in military spending, pro-national healthcare, pro-wealth distribution, pro-socialism, pro-gay rights, pro-affirmative action, anti-drilling, anti-business, anti-anonymous voting for union workers who may be better with Katie and Charlie but lacks the substance to lead America with traditional American values.

Gov. Palin has brought much (if not most) of the negative spotlight on herself.
You are going to have to explain to me how Palin brought it on herself when there was extensive media coverage of the fact that a woman with small children could perform the duties of Vice President.
This was a serious topic of discussion with many editorials written and tons of media coverage given to the subject.
I dare say no one has suggested that Obama couldnt be president for the same exact reasons. AND Joe Biden has been heraled a national hero for being a single dad who was also a diligent senator.
my friend, its gonna take more than makeing a statement with a straight face to convince me you are even trying to be fair with the above comment.

DB well said, but I'm afraid your wasting your breath because 1399 is as biased as anyone one here.

I don't have any grand illusions that 1399 will have a road to Damascus moment, but I know there are more people that lurk and read than post. When I see misinformation, mischaracterizations, or flawed arguments, I am going to provide a counter argument to what has been said.
Plus many of the statements and issues here I know come up in other places. Many times the opposition is well versed simply b/c they get the liberal talking points and biased media mantra. So if I can provide info in an argument that helps someone else later, maybe convincing them to change their vote for Mac, then I am glad to go toe to toe with 1399 or anyone else who is assisting in the fleecing of the public with diversions, smoke screens, obfuscations and distractions from the truth.
If just one soul gets converted, it has been worth it all.
