Things that make me smile....
Hearing my children snore. They sound just like their daddy.
Seeing my dog bounce up and down trying to get our attention when we get home. It doesn't matter if we've been gone 5 minutes or 5 hours. She's just as excited either way.
Any time I see a rainbow. I'm reminded of that old song "I've never seen a rainbow til after the rain..I've never felt his healing power until after the pain.." It reminds me that God is still God and the rain has to come so you can have the rainbow.
Seeing a patient go from worrying their nurse with their condition to smiling, talking and eating and getting to go home all better! (BTW, it's not nice to scare/worry your nurse. She'll carry that even on her days off and come back and look up all your labs and test results on her next day at work just to see how you did. It's not often I worry that much over a patient, but when I do, they're really sick!)
Eating an ice cream from the ice cream truck. Reminds me of being a kid when that was the best treat ever.
I know mine aren't particularly deep or super-special, but those are some things that make me smile no matter how bad I feel. So, what makes you smile?

Re: Things that make me smile....
Your two girls are soo darling.
Mine don't always make me smile. Sometimes they do things that make me go bonkers. But, every night when they go to sleep, they all snore and it just cracks me up. No matter how stressful my day was or how misbehaved they were or how many toys they left strewn about, they start snoring and I stop being mad at them or frustrated with them and start smiling. That instant reaction is what made me stop and think about all the things that make me stop in my tracks, no matter how bad it is, and smile.

I do understand! It is all worth in the end.
Sorry about the size of the first pic, I am not having luck in resizing.

Re: Things that make me smile....
My devotion today said to smile when your child wakes you up at 6am on Saturday morning; Totally blew your plans for sleeping in. Why smile? A lot of parents have kids in the hospital that cannot get out of bed to wake them up. Others want to be parents but cannot have children, they have to be content their brothers and sisters kids, friends kids and their church children--but it is not the same.
What always makes me smile is my daughter's wide smile and her dimples. I can be angry, depressed, and the like, but she always gets me.

Re: Things that make me smile....
Memories of the good times at the churches I've attended in the past make me smile.
Being outside in a cool rain in the middle of summer makes me smile.
The Cosby Show, Golden Girls and SNL memories make me smile.
Thinking of the times when God was gracious towards me, even when I was angry at Him and later seeing that He really did have my best interests in mind makes me smile.
80's Gospel Music makes me smile. So does some of the mid 90's Alternative Rock.
The cool, crisp air of Fall in Maryland makes me smile.
Knowing that I have a Father who knows me and still loves me makes me smile.

Re: Things that make me smile....
I am not going to lie...I have been disturbed lately when I log on and see the titles of various threads back to back on an Apostolic site...I think sometimes we are getting comfortable....not casting stones, just an observation.
Now....THIS THREAD IS SOOOO REFRESHING!!! Keep these posts in this thread coming. Steve, your daughters are precious!!
My smiles come from memories of my Pops rooting me on from behind the backstop while I pitched in Pony League in my baseball years. He always had a wisecrack from his DEEP BARITONE voice and would use my height restrictions and Mexican ancestry to include in his barbs! He passed when I was 13 and those mean a lot more now!
Another time, while watching our Dodgers get creamed by The Padres in their stadium, after another home run by The Padres, he had enough and while the crowd was cheering, he YELLED, "SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN!!!!!!"....our entire section sat down quickly, then looked his way in his Dodger cap smiling like a cat.....they roared with laughter!!!! This makes me smile

A few years ago, I had just got home from work and as soon as I walked through the door my son started calling me. I had a bad day and it irritated me that I couldn't even get in the door without my name being called. God spoke to my heart and said "what if you didn't have him to call your name." That was a wow moment. I never got aggravated again. Now when I walk through the door and the first thing I hear is mama, I am thankful to have him.
