Who is 'he', NU or KH? I'm confused here.

NU, in the seventies and again in 1994.

NU could not contain the UC's (the first TV uproar), which ultimately produced the AS (in 1994), this caused the exit of many progressive pastors in each of these occasions.

Clear?

Re: Legacy: KH's Second Greatest Impact?

The 70's thing is before my time, although I do remember the '92 thing. So i wonder what made KH think it would be diff this time around? In NU's case it was the first time around, seems like KH would have learned from the first two blowups. Idk, it's complex. I know KH pretty well and I know he thinks alot of his leadership ability and his level of influence in the movement. It's a common malady among high profile leaders. This overestimation caused him to overstep. Too bad he'll not get a mulligan on it.

I disagree with many of KH's decisions and freely admit that we are not in the same ideological "camp."

But fairness compels me to acknowledge that he drew a bad horse, one that nobody would have had an easy time trying to ride.

This was not an easy time to bew the GS of the UPC.

A very calculated risk if you ask me ... just a few more votes and the cons would have had free reign for decades to come.

I think the role KH had at Christian Life College has not been factored in this discussion thus far. As President ... he hired some of the movement's most divergent free thinkers ... and as the premiere college in the org especially in the last few years ... we are seeing that some of the liberalization of the org is being spearheaded by CLC alumni or others w/ ties to it.
I think having men like Segraves and Yadon teach and mold the young minds in Pentecost will have a lasting impact on the future of the org ....

Didn't JG come out of CLC?

Love the rodeo analogy, I guess you have to go a few to them to appreciate that comment.

Meaning?

Yes, Kenneth Haney, hires the best, as one who sat under those guys, they were the best in my opinion, a diverse group with strong feelings, who got along well.
